I used to breed and train working dogs. Anthony dog treats are your best tool, once they know what you want them to do the treats won't be necessary, it's the quickest and most humane way to train them You guys have the biggest hearts God bless you for taking in yet another lost soul ❤.

I read a post the other day emploring people to get a proper harness for their dogs because a collar can damage their trachea. I think it was from a person that helped our in a vet clinic or something. Our neighbours got a hound and OMG their bark drives us crazy! They may be good for the country but we’re in the city and on very narrow lots at that!

You can teach him to track what you want him to track. For instance he can be taught to track humans. Which means that if any of the kids got lost he could be used to find them. Hound dogs are amazing dogs when you get use to their little oddities. They do need a job and whatever kind of nose work that you can think to teach him will help to keep him as well as you and Rox happy.They make amazing pets. That baying noise is their bark. I knew that you guys would fall for him.

We had a Bluetick They are so full of personality ad goofiness. Very entertaining dogs. One word of caution since he is a tracking dog once they get o a scent they will stay on it and get lost. I'm thinking that is what let him to you guys. He looks like he has been well cared for. But if you can't find his family I'm glad you guys will give him a good home.

back at my home in south carolina those hunting dogs were like children to the hunters and are worth lots of money , they used to track and hunt in the swamps and heavy thick underbrush , most popular in the low country or lower part of SC , l know you have did research but I was raised in the swamp parts and these guys are in big demand . Just thought I throw that out there , if you wanted to find him another home. They are also very loyal and good watch dogs too .

Bruce is a good name for a dog and I am sure you can train him. He might be useful to flush out some deer come hunting season. As the front of the house gets the weather, are you going to put a weatherboard on the front door? It will deflect the wind and any rain that gets blown in that direction and stops it coming into the house. BTW, the porch is looking great.
