Tyler's fervent commitment to delusion is actually admirable. A billionaire calling anyone HiGh BrOw...I have to laugh 😂 Second, it's weird that he sees himself as this champion of poor and working class folk when literally villainizes them in nearly every one of his films. They are there to be one dimensional strereotypes for comic relief or their evil abusive ppl while the protagonists are affluent or at the very least comfortably middle class. If the main character is poor, the movie basically trauma porn till she's saved by a rich or at least financially better off lightskin man wash, rinse, repeat I think that's why he's starting to lose favor among even his most loyal supporters. Poor folks aren't stupid like he thinks they are and no one appreciates being talked down to. The one credit I'll give this film is that at least it's encouraging women to divorce abusive men, hate the messaging that poor men are inherently absuive but it's Tyler Perry 🤷🏿♀️. It's good that the black church in this film is endorsing divorce because in the real world (and Perry's earlier works) the church has done so much damage telling women and girls it's better be abused than divorced.

Now, I admittedly don't watch his movies (I've seen some of the comedies, Madea Witness Protection, and that first Halloween movie he did), so I could be wrong, but the last time he tried to "branch out" was that Alex Cross movie that no one cared about. That could be why he's sticking to the one recipe he knows. Well, he knows two, but he's seemed to have given up on that. I would assume it's because he's on the "can't make comedies because of cancel culture" train. Dude probably doesn't consume horror, fantasy, etc., so he can't fathom writing those sorts of things. And like I said, he tried the action thing and failed. But he didn't write or direct those, so technically, that's not (totally) a fail on his part. Just bad casting on theirs 😂
@hurgenflerg21332 ай бұрын
Alex Cross was just an acting job, though. He was in Gone Girl two years later, and that seemed to work out fine.

I think "A Jazzman's Blues," did pretty well, especially since it was released on Netflix back in 2022.
