Fucking, this! Everything Lisa did to Brian on camera reads as DV/abuse imo. She assaulted him, is "passionate," verbally abused him and other women, she gave the ultimatum. It is pretty fucked how people are just chill about it. I hate the whole 'if the roles were reversed' but like... imagine if Brian had 'mushed' her face like that on screen?!

Even most of the people covering the show (even in the comments here) are downplaying it… they are pretending that maybe it could be actually his fault. But it couldn’t. She hit him unprovoked as a way to control him.

I was really surprised not even Kendall acknowledged that more? She's usually good about that stuff and I hate to be "that guy" but if the genders were swapped I feel like people would have a much stronger reaction and Netflix would've handled it very differently

Netflix is really disappointing me with how they’re dealing with the very toxic/abusive altercations throughout the seasons of this show and on Love is Blind. Like I know they don’t care about their contestants but Jesus Christ, they could at least do the bare minimum to protect them from domestic violence/abuse.

Yeah, it makes me wonder if they would step in if one of the swapped couples got violent... Like, is there a passivity when you see a long-term partner be aggressive on the show?

100 percent AGREED. What happened with Tiff on Queer Love Ultimatum, and this season with Lisa. Although if it was a man who was acting like this, confessing on the reunion that they went to jail because they THREW something at their partner, or pushing their partner in the FACE and just insulting other cast members in a nasty manner without consequences.....That dude would of been kicked out i think tbh. But because its a women doing these type of behavior, they let it slide, like legit no one questioning it (from what we see on camera)

Right! It's like they think that if they record ALL of it and show it (but refuse to acknowledge it) they can claim they didn't "hide anything". Idk what Netflix be thinking like people can't use Netflix as a reference if someone was to press charges on their partner.

Normally, I don't consider it any of my business if people get married or not. But during this whole season, I was actually yelling at the TV "YOU PEOPLE NEED TO GET FAR AWAY FROM EACH OTHER. GET OUT OF EACH OTHER'S LIVES AND MOVE ON." I became the kind of judgmental person I never thought I was capable of being, but the thing is, I know I was right. So I'm fine with it.

Guys like Alex do like a challenge, it's just not the challenge of seeing themselves differently, it's the challenge of forcing a woman into submission. They like the idea of "taming" or reeling in someone independent and putting them in a more traditional role. Granted, I'm willing to let this be my shitty experience with men talking. Edit: not just my experience. Shoutouts to the girlies out there making men insecure just because they choose to exercise their autonomy.

It's about meeting motivation and all of this, and how Antonio does none of that, but it pushes her to go hard period and now it is only more proven because now Antonio is successful in her insecurities of slamming her back in the face because technically in a way he could be doing better than her with his businesses. That just my opinion

It's such a great question because there's so many layers. Like you can gleam a lot from it depending on the answer itself, and then how they answered it. Like, why would you say no rather than yes? Are you too self-centered when you say yes?
@megahercklekoty
@megahercklekoty 9 ай бұрын
I was really surprised that anyone would answer „yes” to this question, and I don’t think it has anything to do with my self-esteem. I simply don’t gravitate towards people very similar to myself, since relationships like this can become unbalanced very quickly, seeing as we have almost identical flaws and blind spots. I get on best with people that balance out some of my shortcomings, so I probably wouldn’t even be close friends with myself. I think the tension between Alex and Roxanne shows it pretty clearly: it’s difficult for two leaders to come to a compromise, it’s equally difficult for two pushovers to decide on anything.

Pregnancy in an unhealthy relationship can be common for so many reasons. Like sometimes a guy purposefully tries to get his partner pregnant so she can't leave, sometimes someone will try to get pregnant to who they are with won't leave, sometimes there is an extreme lack of boundaries or conversations surrounding pregnancy that makes them simply less careful about getting pregnant. I just hope in this situation the pregnancy isn't a pawn in a game for one of them, I hope they are somewhat prepared to deal with the situation.

the first thing you're describing is called "baby trapping" btw. I think its crazy how people can get serious about marriage before they talk about pregnancy, birth control, abortion etc. parenthood is a deal breaker for a reason. wild that people think parenthood either isn't hard to do, so don't talk about it in the first few conversations, or they think it won't change their lives significantly. Or consider that their partner might be good partner but not a good parent or could be vice versa. ideally you want both if you want kids but some people can only be one and that person could be your partner. Or you could be that person yourself. Also I dont understand how a baby is supposed to fix a relationship. I've heard that many times before but I never understood how you get from A to Z that way. People aren't going put their gripes aside because a baby is on the way. The gripes are just going to metastasize on top of the stress of raising a child. Could someone explain it to me?

So she comes back to Antonio and claims it’s love when it isn’t. He’s the only one who worships her and her toxicity without telling her she’s got things to work on so of course she wants to stick with the guy she can manipulate and control vs being with an older wiser man who wont tolerate her bullshit. They mentioned breaks in their relationship where she dated other people and came back to him. Comment on high school couples eventually getting married: I've seen it work out a few times, and in every case it's because they each had a lot of space to develop on their own as adults. They went to different colleges (sometimes considerably long-distance), usually didn't live together until their early twenties/after undergrad. They also weren't so focused on staying together at all costs (one couple I know took a break for two years and got back together), it just kept working out so they kept a good thing going.

I second all of this. I’m going to 8 years with my high-school sweetheart and the reason why it’s actually working (apart from the fact that we really love each other) is that we trust each other and have spent at least half the time apart, him doing his thing, me doing my thing. I have been away for some summers because of internships and right now we’re doing long distance which doesn’t feel too different to be honest 😂. We’re used to not being near each other all the time and because of that, we have been able to really find ourselves and what we want. I second this! No idea what she meant by “conducive to self development” lol. sounded like an exaggerated attempt to make an intelligent point using big words but it fell flat. Some people meet the love of their life in high school and as long as they are cognizant not to lose their identity in their relationship (which can happen to people in their 30s too btw) they make it work.

When I say my jaw was on the floor throughout Lisa's tantrum. She really put her hands on that man then went on a vile, degrading tirade towards Riah so by the time she announced that she's "pregnant" I couldn't help but feel like she was just lying to get out of the show and keep Brian tied down. Her and Roxanne were awful representations of boss women.

To the question “would you marry yourself?” My answer is immediately “no” and that’s not a bad thing. I’m disorganized, forgetful, sometimes lazy, and occasionally impulsive. I need someone who is not those things. If I married a copy of me we’d end up divorced because we’d drive each other nuts.

When that didn’t work out, she got violent with him and was absolutely nasty to someone else who was just in the same experience as she was. Regarding the bed/air mattress thing Let's not forget that it's also very valid for couples to want to have their own rooms and space. Thid works for a lot of people who prefer to have the option to share beds or not. Yeah the way everyone keeps saying Riah doesn’t like TREY specifically as the reason she doesn’t want to marry is upsetting like no one has listened to what she says. She went through something tragic when pregnant 2 years ago with Trey, who even knows this but continues to press the kids thing, she is only 24 and wants to explore and wants to have and do things for herself that she was never able to have or experience growing up. Trey is 28 and ready he has his life together already. It’s not her not liking him at all, she’s YOUNG she’s had a hard time and she she’s scared that doing everything now will stop her from ever doing anything she wanted since settling down will make you busy. It’s frustrating everyone keeps talking down on her when almost everyone else here is 30ish and acting immature…

This season was sooooo boring and was paced way too fast! They barely gave us any time with each of the trial marriages and I don’t think a single couple should have stayed together ! It’s like they needed a season where the ultimatum actually ‘worked’ so they can keep getting couples to sign up.
@AndSoWeLaughed

This will continue to get people to sign up because they love being on TV (streamed no less) and seeing people talk about them in real time via hashtags. If anyone wanted their relationship to actually work they wouldn’t issue an ultimatum in the first place, and if they do they would visit a therapist or counsellor in private. These people know their relationships are awful. The only reason they get casted is because they have something to stream and manipulate into a story.

After that I’ve been manipulated, lied to, gaslit, bullied, threatened, insulted, and harassed by people who want marriage/kids. Some will say they understand what I say and respect my boundaries, then proceed to ignore everything I said and act like they know better for me than I do. I’ve had 6 proposals and 3 men try to get me pregnant on purpose after agreeing with me that they also didn’t want marriage or kids either, and pretend to respect my boundaries. Also, all the talk about working/the grind reminded me of how annoying it can be to interact with anyone who makes one thing their entire personality. I've met some people who only ever wanted to talk about one (or a couple) thing and they'd get annoyed if the conversation strayed from their interests. Then they'd try to steer it back to something they wanted to talk about. I'm not always interested in everything someone is talking about, but, I at least try to continue the conversation. Maybe I'll learn something or be introduced to something new that might become a new interest. I've never understood being so closed off to even the idea of new hobbies or topics, lol.

Gonna put in here as a person who married my first boyfriend; it works well if you are two people that are willing to actually grow together and respect each others needs. I think we are both different people than we were when we first met, but I think our core values were the same and we gave each other space to learn and make mistakes. Our communication was always the biggest pillar we built up, and that prevented a lot of issues I've seen others have in their relationships. We've been together for 13 years now and still strong :-) We also made a point to continue to see our premarital therapist long after we got married (non religious therapist even though we are both Christian because.....sometimes the church be churchin). Going even through the "good" times allows us to work on tools to use in the "bad times" while both being in a more open headspace. That is not to say that this is a path meant for everyone; I think I always was very sure about what I wanted and thus was incredibly choosy when it came to the character of the person I wanted to fully be in a relationship with. Being demisexual helped that a lot too probably......and I was just very blessed and lucky to find someone so early because a lot of these menfolk suck out here lol. I just wanted to give a case that yes, you can grow as a person and have personal development while being with your first love. After all, there are plenty of people who date a lot of different people and have plenty of experiences and still don't quite know who they are or what they want. If you can communicate well and have a partner that LISTENS, respects, understands what you're saying and can communicate at the same level as you, I think that's the key to it working out whether it's the 1st or 50th boyfriend.

thé way that these people are not only on different pages emotionally but it’s so painfully obvious there’s fundamental differences. And the ones that do compliment each other are bound to be toxic

I’m sorry but Roxanne sh*t talking Antonio and seemingly insinuating that Alex would’ve hooked up and then it immediately cutting to Alex being like “she’s tiring” made me LAUGH SO HARD. 🤣

"I'm going to have two kids and be an empty nester traveling the world with my spouse" uh honey, you do know that you can't predict the entire lives of the kids you pop out, right? If you want them tidily out of your way by 18, you definitely aren't prepared for having kids.

with a show that has a premise like this i didn’t think it’d be possible for s2 to be worse than s1 but wow i was sooo wrong. it’s definitely worse😭

Girl watch The Ultimatum France cause they don't get as intimate as they do in this version and it still manages to be wild asf

Brian is Nigerian. Getting someone pregnant before marriage is a GREAT shame in the culture. Getting someone you don't even like pregnant....YEESH. On top of that, he KNOWS his parents will force him to marry her. It's in the culture. I honestly feel bad for him, but he should've wrapped it up.

Idk if Kennie would actually watch this but after seeing your review of Red, White, and Royal Blue I really would love to see your reaction to Our Flag Means Death. Definitely a silly pirate show w/ very cute couples and quirky characters. S2 comes out in October and idk I just wanted to put it out there🤷🏻. Btw I think all these ppl this season of the Ultimatum should just break up. None of these ppl sound like they should be in a relationship/ dating each other.

My cousin married herself. She’s had at least five or six anniversaries at this point. She’s not closed off from having a relationship with another person but she’s been happy in her single person marriage

This season made me think of one thing “desperationnn” attachment and comfort can be something lethal. The only relationship that seemed like it made sense was ryann and her partner. But then again idk cause the momma seemed very over it lol

I know this isn't necessarily representative of how a normal marriage starts, and in a way it is, but I have no idea how people manage to get married. And that question whether you would marry yourself, it f*cked me up a bit. But yeah, it's an interesting way to trigger self-reflection.

the way i feel about the youtubers I follow being 'late' with a video is that I get a surprise video to watch on another day. so don't stress too much.
