Great vid man! My great-grandfather was in this battle, he was in the 2nd line of defence, fighting the SS pazer divisions, he was declared MIA by the Supreme Command, but I am certain that he died fighting nazis to the end, as every man today and in the past in Russia. (Quick caveat - my family was aristocratic one before the revolution, but we didn't flee - we were, and still are - the soldier caste, generational fighters for the Russia, and it's faith and people)

As a side-note, while not probably good reaction material, the Military History Visualized video about the Rzhev meatgrinder is a very interesting story of a front/battle that is really not talked about, highly recommend you take a look at it. Hey, History Guy. Have you watched Soviet film series Liberation from 1970? You can find it on KZbin in 4K with English subtitles. It starts from The Battle of Kursk and goes through the whole war ending in Berlin. The whole series is about 6h long. There are some issues like T-55 tanks on the background without even an attempt to make it looks like German one, but it is still, by my opinion, one of the best movies about WW2.

So I have 4 great grandfathers who all happened to fight in the 2nd world war One of them (father’s mother’s dad) fought in the Don battle where the Nazi/German forces and the Germans vassals (amongst them Hungary) fought against Soviet forces My great grandpa lost a small toe and had a limp ever since that he also told that whoever stood still/sat for more than 10’ just froze to death and the best part, the Germans would shoot you if you tried to plead them to join them bc they were sitting in their warm and cozy panzers. He lost his best friend in battle whilst retreating who took a bullet for him One of my other great grandpas (mothers mothers dad) died during forced labour during ww2 when the factory (Rába works) got bombarded and collapsed on his head (he was unable to do military service bc he had type 1 diabetes so he was forced to work by Germans) my grandma still receives money for being a war orphan

prOhorovka is right pronunciation from "прОхоровка". Love your East front video. What's next? ;) Leningrad's blockade? Battle for Moscow?

Just a small comment... "Broke the citadel" is a refence to the German name of the offensive: "Unternehmen Zitadelle" meaning "Operation Citadel".
