Dick in my opinion is best on his own (as Nightwing, Batman or a secret agent). Jason is at his best when he is a villain/anti-hero mostly opposing the Family. While the Father-Son relationship between Bruce and Damian is good, Damian should be Dick's Robin. Tim is the best Robin, the best partner for Bruce. Although I do admint the Red Robin solo series is excellent.

Funfact Tim Drake became Batman in a slightly different timeline which is implied to be pre New 52 timeline. Because when he wants to leaves into his timeline he says to regular Tim Drake:„If you do something I'll say, please apologize to Connor Kent (aka Superboy)“ (there was some drama between and before that they had the best Bromance), but Connor Kent doesn't exist in post new 52. Now go and read Tynion IV's Detective Comics run, best use of Red Robin (Tim Drake), Orphan, Azrael, Clayface, Spoiler and Batwoman, also Batwing he's okay. Great team book

As much as I hate when people do the "actually...(follow with some long winded explanation/correction)" I am going do to the thing which I just professed to hate just now. The Kingdom was a sort of sequel to Mark Waid and Alex Ross' Kingdom Come. Which prominently featured a character called Ibn Al Xu'ffasch who was a sort of proto-Damian Wayne. The son of Batman and Thalia Al Ghul raised in the league of assassins. Your description of events was pretty spot on, though, with DC getting rid of the multiverse and then rebuilding it in the form of Elseworlds stories. This is likely to be the first and last time I comment on a youtube video. I figured I would make it this one, as i love your podcast.

Long story short, he appears in the recent run from Justice League and he is a small remnant from Starro, you remember that big ol' starfish-like alien that is mostly famous for being the first villain the Justice League ever faced? I don't remember exactly if Jarro is a part of Starro or if he is just from the same race. Before he redesigned his outfit to get back to his roots (but still cooler, not all the way back to the swim-suit britches and elfin booties), Earth-Two Robin developed an absolute eyesore of a costume that tried to mix elements from his old outfit and that of his retired mentor. And by that, I mean "he took Batman's PJs and put a yellow cape on it." With a scalloped frill. And a small red circle with an "R" sprouting batwings on the center of the chest. They did actually introduce girlfriends in the comics to dispell the idea that they were gay: Batwoman (Katherine Kane) and the original Batgirl who no one's heard of, Bette/Bete Kane. Who later takes the mantle of Firebird from Jimmy Olson (long story).

I think the idea that Batman is meant to be ultra grim and dark is a really a modern interpretation, because even back in the forties, Batman had his ups and downs in darkness and his pulp hero roots, back in The Golden Age, so Robin, who was essentially a vessel for the kid readers to feel like they could be in the story and assist Batman themselves, wasn’t so out of the ordinary. Then came The Silver Age in the 50s, where everything was wacky and colourful, not unlike the 1960s Batman series with Adam West, so Robin must have been right at home. In fact, this was the first real Bat-Family, where there was: Batgirl, Batwoman, Ace the Bat-Hound, Bat-Mite, which were basically ploys to keep people interested because the storylines took a major down in quality after the Comics Code Authority and Frederick Wertham’s book in which he alleged Batman and Robin must be Gay (big no no in the fifties). TL;DR Batman was ridiculous in the ‘50s.
