I love the natural pathways seen in so many of your walks. It’s as if they have been formed into shape over the years by thousands of footsteps. And there is no trash strewn about. If this were America there would be Starbucks cups and fast food containers and water bottles everywhere. Are the British people neat by nature?

Yesterday, I just discovered Kevin the Countryman videos of Britain and he is good- so glad to watch him. BUT I cannot help but see the contrast between the two of you. Your style of presentation throughout your videos are so seamless in pacing, no crazy traffic and your calm shift of views; it is the most enjoyable experience ever. Just the best. Thank you.

Hi, Judy. Hope you have had a pleasant week. I think I have probably watched just about every video from ‘Kevin the Countryman’ and I must say I thoroughly enjoy the content on his channel. His videos always leave me wanting to watch more! And it is nice that you enjoy watching both of our channels. I’m glad to hear that you enjoy my style of filming however I have found that my slower pace is not for everyone (going on previously received comments) and I am sometimes told that I spend too much time looking up to the treetops or sky. Having said that, I have no future plans to change my style of filming even though it may not be to everyone’s tastes (it would be a boring world if we all liked exactly the same thing!). I am very grateful for your support. Have a good weekend. OAAW

Haha, free opinions- it takes all kinds to make a world. The tree transitions are beautiful. Too often we do not look up- you give a true account of the magnitude of the space above us when looking up into the tracery of the trees. The old trees of the region are a signature element. There is beauty to be studied in the branching patterns, just like your attention to the stone on the buildings. I love seeing the variations in the “hedge rows” (such a lovely British term) as you walk down these winding roads of stacked stone walls, evergreen and deciduous hedges and wattling fence combinations! The choice of fence materials constantly shifts! I am so glad your style includes all these experiences for us.
Thank you ever so much for the wonderful comment. There are some footprints on the muddy path. All the best to you. ~ OAAW

I envy you with your early morning walks as they're all so quiet and rather beautiful. I have to say though that your framing of flowers and having the architecture and the vista as the backgrounds is a really nice touch these days. I'm certain that when flowers start blooming in earnest in a couple of weeks that things will look even more beautiful on these walks. If only my local area was so dense with such well maintained and loved areas. *edit* I forgot to add that your black gloved hand reaching for the church gate gave me flashbacks to when I was a small child watching TV and all those murder mystery shows that were once a staple that seemed to be all set in and around Gloucestershire or somewhere similar. I expected a knife to be produced from somewhere with a flourish. It made me chuckle at how long lost memories can be triggered by just a small scene.

Hello :). Really grateful for your comment and extra grateful you picked up on something that no one else has done do to date...which was my attempt to portray an element of mystery within a walk. In the midst of a busy day, your walk was my “break”, a chance to sit down, relax, and watch pretty things! I love it when you do shots of the sky, or of tree branches above; the latter have such interesting designs as they reach for the sky. We have a maple in our yard that is well over 100 years old, and I often enjoy just gazing up at it. We definitely could tell that it is spring, not only by seeing the muddy path that you traversed, but also by hearing your footsteps making that squelching sound that is characteristic of walking outdoors at this time of the year. Am I correct in thinking that some of the buildings you passed were cobblestone structures? (I am just asking because they appeared to me to be that type of construction). Thank you for sharing another pleasant walk with us all!
@OutandaboutWalking10 ай бұрын
Hi, Janet. Hope all is well today. Looking up to the treetops has became synonymous with the channel lately. To me, the branches against the backdrop of the sky at this time of year always look like giant arteries in the sky. Sometimes tho, I have an alterior motive for looking up, which could be that I'm setting up for a reveal shot or I'm trying to hide something like a parked vehicle etc, speaking of which, have you ever noticed that I often blur out car Reg plates (Licence plates). That might be a cobblestone property, will have a look soon. Many thanks for taking time out to walk with me today. ~ OAAW
@janetryan977910 ай бұрын
@@OutandaboutWalking I have noticed that you blur out the car license plates, and also numbers on homes that you might pass. I assumed that you did this out of consideration for the privacy of the car owners, and the residents of the houses. The sky-shooting technique is definitely a great idea for discreetly avoiding filming something that you don’t want on video. I briefly watched someone’s walk video the other week (not a UK one) where they strolled past a field with trash in it and showed all the rubbish! I thought that they would have done well to lift their camera to the sky to avoid that scene (or else have chosen a cleaner place to take a walk. This is also why I said that I “briefly” watched it!). BTW, I am always impressed with how clean everything is in your videos, and with how people respect their surroundings by not littering. I wish that was the case more often here in the US. I hope you have a great week! : ) I look forward to your next walk.

I am planning on spending 5 days in the Cotswolds this June. I would like to see Castle Combe, Bradford on Avon, Stroud, The Slaughters, Stow on the Wold, & Stratford Upon Avon. Would you recommend that I stay in one or two villages, and what village-s, would you suggest I stay in during my trip? Thank you in advance, and for the several videos you posted. I will be travelling by car.
@OutandaboutWalking10 ай бұрын
Hi, Jim. That sounds lovely. I think if it was me, I might probably stay over in two locations purely because from B.O.A to Stratford is quite a drive (depending on the order you are planning visiting the places in), so perhaps stay in the Bradford-on-Avon area initially and visit Castle Combe. Also if you can fit it in, Bath & Lacock are well worth visiting too. Then for the latter northern part of your trip maybe use Bourton-on-the-Water as a stopping over point which is fairly central. Also whilst in that area you might like to visit Broadway and Bibury. Admittingly it might be a bit tricky to fit so many places in within a space of 5 days...you could do with a few extra days perhaps! My best advice to you is do as much research as you possibly can in advance. Hope this helps, even if just a little. All the best to you.
@jimgerace10 ай бұрын
@@OutandaboutWalking Thanks very much for the advice and quick reply.Yes, I am definitely interested in seeing Bibury. It seems, according to a map, that I might consider Cirencester as a good base of operation. It seems I can go North or South from Cirencester to most of the villages in about an hour. Since you live there, you may know otherwise. I'm still open to splitting my time in 2 villages. Whatever you say, thanks.
@OutandaboutWalking10 ай бұрын
@jimgerace Cirencester is a great option to be your base for operations as it is practically slap bang in the middle, and on the flipside you will get to experience Cirencester which is a lovely town.

Hey OAAW~ Does the dogwood @ ~25:00 mean Spring is springing in the Cotswolds? 👏🏻🌷 We had a Spring storm here in the US Northeast the last few days: rain, snow, sleet, hail… and two small snowdrop patches planted years ago in our garden bloomed in the middle of it all. 😉

Hi, Cheryl. It is really nice to hear from you. Although this was filmed a while ago there were little telltale signs that Spring was looming on the horizon. That is a dolly mixture of weather!
