The People's Court

The People's Court

Күн бұрын

The plaintiff says the defendant is her neighbor, who she claims cut a vine that smashed down into her shed. She says it broke her Lalique and Baccarat crystal, so she’s suing for the value of the items. The defendant admits she cut down the vine but claims she never heard of anyone storing expensive crystal in an outside shed.

That's a heck of a lot of former felons dumped into the community...the people who run these places get a huge amount of money💰💰 from the department of corrections and social services..it happens mainly in black communities used as dumping grounds for this type of "enterprise"... the residents do cause problems: from knocking on your door asking for cigarettes, washing cars on the street for $5, fighting with each other, illicit PDAs. I appreciate and respect your lived experience; HOWEVER please, let's not pick at semantics; If she was a police officer or paramedics, no one would question her experiences; she actually is one of the people who had to do the WORST WORK; cleaning up everything underneath the rubble afterwards; that means BODIES, as well as all the same toxic materials in the air that everyone else breathed. She was just a city worker; a street sweeper; and she should NOT have even been sent there at her age and condition. Everyone who was there in any way suffered in part.

Plaintiff may be intense and is exaggerating. At the same time, if you've ever lived in a place where a halfway house was put next door to you, you would also be furious. I have a friend that recently was renting and hD to move due to children being harassed by grown men that have just got out of jail...she had issues waking home from the train and being safe. It's likely the house was not in the ghetto when she bought it but that the neighborhood declined over time. Plaintiff isn’t credible at all. Her claims of COPD are sketchy at best. I’m no medical expert, but she didn’t lose her breathe not once! Her issue is that she doesn’t like the kind of business the defendant is running. I understand that. It diminishes her property value. I’d be mad as well. But you can’t lie in court because of it. I feel for the plaintiff. Work your whole life, buy a home, maintain the home for decades just for someone to turn the neighboring home into a halfway house for convicts. I personally wouldn't feel safe living there anymore. She could move but her roots are planted. They should really talk to the city and have this moved out of their community. Why not put the criminals housing beside the jail or at least in a non populated area where there isn't families trying to survive and live in peace. I bet the property value also decreased when they turned that into a half way house.

Did the plaintiff say that it was ivy that had been there for over a decade, and it got so thick and ''woody' that it punctured the SIDE of the shed when it came down? First, if the shed was against the wall the falling vine would have punctured the roof before any damage could have been done to the side, which she couldn't prove. Secondly, a few years ago there was a hotel in the town I live in that had ivy growing on it for over 3 decades, and none of it, when the hotel was torn down, while it may have been somewhat thick with vines, was not overly woody, as vines tended to die off throughout the years and break off in inclement weather. Thirdly, the shed in the pictures looked to be a fairly cheap, plastic shed that is only good for keeping lawn-care equipment out of the weather (my brother got one once and it began falling apart in just a couple of years and needed constant repair) and not a really good place to store any really expensive items in, mainly because dust and insects get into any shed that is not hermetically sealed. A hailstorm could have come by and broken everything, so who would she be trying to sue in the event that that happened?
