#1. Ray knew if he didnt do it, somebody would (and probably wouldnt be as merciful as ray would). #2. Once they told Ray why, if he refused, knowing he was aquainted with the man, ray would be in danger. The only safe way was forward. #3. The ONLY way to not do the deed would be to go to the man and tell him, putting himself dead in the middle and not knowing how many blokes were backing the VP. Even if he killed the VP and the gingersquatch toady, there could be retaliation from their confederates. The SAFEST route forward for ray was taking the job. Hope this helps.

I think the way Ray saw it was that if he didn’t take the job someone else would. Pretty twisted… but I kinda get it.

@@TequilaSunset_ turning it down once he knows the target brings a whole new set of problems. The ambitious VP obviously can't be known to be involved or he would do it himself.
@traviskrueger953125 күн бұрын
Cause warning a guy someone wanted him dead is impossible? Don't get it twisted, it's pure selfishness and greed. If Ray turns down the job it hurts his reputation which could cost him other jobs in the future on top of this one, he's only thinking about money. About the only positive spin I could muster in Ray's behalf is he would have to think these guys wouldn't trust him if he turned down the job and his life would be in danger, but then that just makes Ray a coward which he isn't.

@diraska21 күн бұрын
For me, it revealed something that was always true about Ray, a worse side to his personality and behavior. If people give him money, he will kill that person. He also did not have very many lines he would not cross. He would not hurt children and avoided hurting women. Ray was also the kind of guy who could be happy to see you, have a lively chat with you at a bar, and if someone paid him $250k to kill you he would go ahead and cash that check. There was a tight circle of people he would not betray like that, but outside of that circle he has little to no loyalty to anyone he meets.

@@diraskaI think the rule Ray follows is that if you’re in the game, its all fair. The craziest part is that Ray probably feels remorse for this, but it’s the life he’s chosen

Perhaps he knew that if he knocked back the job his life would have been in danger if they thought he said no because Vinnie was a friend and would have warned him. Or because it's his line of work, he knew that they'd just hire someone else. At that stage Vinnies life was as good as over.
