I tend to only write in my journal if I’m upset. This means I have over 10 years of info where if you were to find it after I’m gone you would think my life was horrible and super unhappy. 😂 I’ve had to leave a note explaining myself.

I used to do this as well!! I stopped writing the date at the top because I would look at it and be like "Why have I been depressed for x amount of years." I've also started writing titles at the top so that I know what I'm about to get myself into, instead of rereading sad journal entries and getting triggered. Hope this helps! :)

Hey Michelle! Just wanted to say that even after being a long time subscriber, your videos still bring so much excitement and joy to my day - it grows every week! A fresh new video is like receiving a letter from an old friend in the mail. I love seeing the little changes in your video like a new font used or a different style of B Roll. Your efforts (and Luke’s if he still helps you edit) do not go unnoticed! Much love and a hug x

I started to journal when I was 7 year-old because I didn't have any friends so I can only write to myself. Now I'm blessed with close friends, but I'm so glad I've started journaling since I was small!

I write in a diary since I'm 9 and now I'm 21. It's absolutely not an effort, I love writing what I did during the day and important thoughs. Getting things out, understanding myself better and being able to read my diaries later.

Lately I've felt like some of my emotions have been brooding, I've felt an urge to journal it out but didn't know how to in a helpful and enjoyable way. It just seemed like a lot of effort and most of the time it felt like the writing never ended and I kept going in circles! This method seems a lot more simple and helpful, I'm looking forward to giving it a go! 💗

I’ve always been practicing intentional journaling. I am never forcing myself to write just because people say it is good to do so everyday. If I write in my journal, it is because I have thoughts in my head that need to be put into words. It is pretty natural to me, but I like how you talk about it and propose tips to help us grab an outsider perspective (even if sometimes just expressing our inner thoughts is healthy too!). 🤗✨

I've struggled with the same dilemmas. So many times I've started journaling then I've stopped a few days or weeks after. And I especially like the promt "What would you say to your best friend?"; because we're far more judgemental when it comes to ourselves than we are to our loved ones. Thank you for this video. I'll surely implement the ideas in my own life.

I went to rehab a few years ago and one of the counsellors taught me to journal by asking myself questions 1 how was the day or period of time your referring to 2 what went well 3 what went wrong 4 what would I change in the future 5 what did I learn I love rereading my journals now and I find it's not all depressive whining which was what all my previous journal entries used to look like.

It's actually been scientifically proven that free form journaling, writing down your thoughts without direction, has the potential to make you unhappier. Structured journaling, including some form of gratitude has been proven to be beneficial. Not all journaling is equal.
