I've been on the Alcan Highway back in the 70's when it was a dirt road. My Dad followed the oilfield all my childhood. He worked on the pipeline in Alaska was why we drove the highway back then. We pulled a trailer up there to live in. I'm loving the scenery and your journey.

@@LunaGrace62 buffalo and bison are the same animals according to Cross timber bison in Oklahoma. Babies are called "red dogs" until they lose their reddish colored coats as it turns darker about 2 to 3 months old. Just thought you should know. I'm really enjoying your trip, my someday for those kind of trips is long gone as I'm now almost 86 years old and live in senior citizens housing. But there was a day I dreamed of doing what you are doing now! Have fun my friend and keep the videos coming they are appreciated!

I am living through you on this adventure! My husband and I have followed this very same route at least 5 or 6 times to work in the Yukon. We have only gotten as far as Tombstone Territorial Park on the Dempster. You make me want to go again!

What a stunning place! I was in tears because of the amazing beauty-where the glacier was. My husband went on a fishing trip to the Arctic Circle with his buddy. He spoke of the Tundra. Yes we always keep a look out for bears. Thankfully wild bears are pretty shy and run away from the sound of the vehicles.

My Mom and Dad did that trip with their best friends in the 70's when I was in my early teens. They started in the Annapolis Valley in Nova Scotia. This brings back a lot of memories from the old lost Polaroids they took. Thank you. ♥

I feel a small part of me is on this journey...why? Tomorrow and most everyday I pass the part where you stayed on Lake Superior North of Sault Ste. Marie Ontario...I've been across Canada since a youngster many many times on planes, trains and autos...but never up where you made it though! Anyways I run the Agawa Tour Train to Agawa Canyon up North of the Sault into Algoma Country...tomorrow in fact...I'll think about you guys and your adventure as I set out on mine! Oh and I LOVE LOVE coffee....but it has to be like a DARK ROAST to catch my attention....

Is there the “perfect” time of the year to make this trip? I will be traveling from Louisiana so it’s a far journey and I’m very flexible regarding schedule and time required! After all it’s a bucket list trip!😊

I think the trip is pretty epic no matter when it’s done but each season for different reasons. We did it late August into first week of Sept. The weather was great and just starting to get a little cold at night. The fall colours were spectacular and there weren’t too many travellers. You sure are correct about that It is a bucket list trip. Hope you have an amazing time no matter what time here you go.

Oh my gosh! What wonderful memories this video provided-I was a designated driver for 2 80 year old neighbors from SE Alaska to Inuvik in 2003! Absolutely a bucket list adventure. We’ve seen them in the distance, but they usually get out of the way before the Jeep get there. When he was about two years old, he saw a blackbear and thought it was another dog, and he jumped on it to play. Thankfully, the bear ran away, and Lando came back to us when we honked the horns.

We didn’t own the Rossmönster at the time. But you’re sure right, the comfort difference would be amazing. We think we might do the trip again, but this time in the truck. 👍🏻

@@EFRT, I just realized by reading your pinned comment that this trip was in 2022. Initially all I saw was that this video was uploaded 3 months ago, so that led me to think this was a recent trip. So your comment about the Rossmönster makes complete sense. My first trip to Tuk back in '98, that bridge was "damaged" and I sat for 5 hours while they pondered and ruminated over allowing us to cross, and as it got later in the day they "allowed" us to cross, and many people stayed at the hotel. I slept in my van in the parking lot. That bridge seems to get damaged quite often. I have friends who have been in that same predicament, in past years at that bridge. Makes me wonder if there is some sort of Machiavellian scheme with Eagle Plains to "boost tourism?!" GREAT video, by the way! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Hi to the 3 of you. Your video brought back so many memories, thank you for that. In 1988, after my studies to become an engineer, I shipped a VW T2 bus (50hp!) from Germany to Halifax. Loaded her up with Moose Head Beer in Dartmoth and drove across Canada to Banff, Jasper and North onto the Alaska Highway to Dawson City and up on the Dempster to Inuvik. I took the plane, a DH Beaver to Tuktuyuktuk, because there no road at the time in 1988. Back in Dawson, and after visiting gold miners in the area, over the Top of the World Highway to Eagle/Alaska and down to Haines, to get on the Inside Passage ferry to Vancouver Island, stopping at Sitka, Ketchican etc. Sorrry, that was a long story, but I am just proud, now 64, that I did all this in a VW bus, and she never failed :) Kind greetings and thanks again, Andreas (now in the South of France :) BY THE WAY: at the time, I was inspired by the book COMING INTO THE COUNTRY by the great JOHN McPHEE. Have you read it? If not, that's a must for people who love the North.

We recently found you guys on KZbin and in this video seeing you getting a water taxi with a Canadian flag 🇨🇦 was a pleasant surprise coz we thought you guys live on this cabin in the States. Thank you so much for sharing this video..loved the entire story, trip and adventure…and was a little sad when you got to your destination…thinking that would be it….only to find out there was more…Met your kids in X Overland which was where I really started falling in love with Overlanding…have always enjoyed the outdoor on road travels more than flying…unless absolutely necessary so its really great to watch a couple that enjoys life as it occurs which was a blessing to me cause that’s how I feel life should be taken….and how you handled situations as they occurred was really refreshing…I also loved the give and take…i.e…flying fishing for antlers!! And many more precious moments….loved your dog….and enjoyed his runs as well…thanks again…it was a really beautiful weekend treat!!! Great to meet you!!!
