I traveled all thru the northern parts of Vancouver island a few years ago, and yes it is Very hard too leave. Once a lead battery goes below 12 bolts it is junk. It may be usable when charged immediately but let it sit for a day and it needs replacement. I switched all my vehicle start batteries to ANTI GRAVITY LITHIUM batterys, first one 5 years ago in my daily, then 3 years ago in my rv starter. They work amazing and even at -25 started my daily better than any agm or lead could do at that temperature. The one time I left a dome light on I went to start the next day, and well nothing. Anti gravity have a 12 volt cut off , so I pushed a button on the supplied remote and it started right up just like normal. There is a button on the actual battery as well. The FANTASTIC thing is I in my lifetime will Never have to buy another battery, priceless as the commercial used to say ! Loving the trip so far , hope you head east thru the northern areas of alberta and Saskatchewan as much as possible. Everyone seems to stay south of the half way mark and really the best parts of those provinces are in the north, where Saskatchewan is all trees and millions of lakes instead of bald prairies. CHEERS AND SAFE TRAVELS Steve h.
@EFRT4 ай бұрын
Thanks for the tips on the batteries. This time because of the time of year, we’re probably doing the South part of the prairie provinces but plan to explore the north country more in the fall.

Hey guys!! I know right where you camped! My husband and I stopped by that site when we explored Vancouver island with our truck and slide in camper ..we went to Holberg … but didn’t make it to winter harbor ..I wish we had. It was fun looking at all my pics on my iPhone map of the same places you guys just were on this video,. I recently lost my backroad exploring buddy to a 4year battle with brain cancer 3 months ago.. I won’t be able to explore like that anymore without him …but I’ll do my best to get to the wilderness as much as I can and safely.. just doesn’t feel the same being without him .. and might not be that safe to go alone ..so keep exploring and bringing us along so o can remember the fun times I had with my dennis.. he had just turned 52 and me 50.. way to young… but we got to go to tuktoyaktuk about the same time you did in 2022…best trip ever….i just hadn’t discovered your channel back then. Cherish every second you have together and keep smiling and going down those dirt roads even if you have to back out and turn around… ❤ I can’t remember .. but if you didn’t do the canol road in the Yukon ..that was one epic road.. north and south.

What beautiful country. we’ve traveled all over with our Lance truck camper on a Dodge Dooley diesel and Lance truck camper. One tank of propane ran out during the night. It kicked over to electric and took the battery down. Could not start the generator jumper. Cables would not start. finally bought a noco 70 on Amazon $199. It’s still only what I would ever buy looking forward to the rest of your road trip.

Maybe what you should be looking at is finding a way to connect your house batteries to the motor. If you can flip a switch so that you can either charge or jump start the truck from the house batteries then you might not run into your truck accidently dying.
