"There is a maxim that Navy SEALs pass from officer to officer, person to person. In the midst of chaos, even in the fog of war, their battle-tested advice is this: “Calm is contagious.” Especially when that calm is coming from the man or woman in charge. If the men begin to lose their wits, if the group is unsure of what to do next, it’s the leader’s job to do one thing: instill calm- not by force but by example.” ~ Ryan Holiday, The Daily Stoic Rinpoche's book "Joyful Wisdom" is amazing, especially the audiobook, the way he describes awareness and brings you where you need to go in your mind to get the view just.. clicks.. and suddenly you're meditating in a totally new and profound way.

Around 27:50 what that woman says is amazing. This documentary has such strong purpose that I can clearly see what your intention is. I agree with some of the things said here, like meditation is not used to become happy but is used to become more aware of your own thoughts and emotions and in turn that makes it easier to deal with anything that comes your way. It's like you're preparing for a kickboxing tournament but this tournament is your life and you're not training your muscles but your mind to be more aware. Lastly, thanks for this video.

Well done guys! Beautiful setting with beautiful scenes; a meaningful and inspiring work. But be careful though; meditation is not the universal panacea that will solve all your problems and discomforts of your life. Try it with an open and innocent mind, free from expectations and unrealistic hopes. Better start when you are reasonably well and comfortable and then, keep trying again and again without holding scores. And never blame yourself for failing for there is no winner or loser in the game.
@ChristianF15cher4 жыл бұрын
This and The Power of Now totally helped me (they both teach a similar concept). When you first start meditating, the moment you become present my feel a bit...weird. Possibly even painful. Keep doing it and eventually it gets easier. The Chaotic Mind (Monkey Mind) is still a problem I deal with in my day to day life but I'm able to acknowledge it and find peace a lot easier.

Seeing the effect (and hearing their gifted ability to describe the changes) was a powerful experience. Hearing the instructor get emotional about how teaching mindfulness had enhanced her life left no doubt about the progressive nature of a method that is 2500 years old. . Mindfulness is being taught in prisons worldwide (yes, even tin the US) and the change in thee recidivism rates (and general level of violence) is a rapidly spreading model. Mindfulness could undo a lot of the damage that the social media ''culture'' is doing our children.

@@1world488 Yes Buddhism is a great tradition which developed its own way of meditation. But Buddhism is also a product of Indic tradition. @@sweetchinmusic3 Firstly, please take note of this, Buddha is not a name of a person but a honorific title given to the enlightened, transcendent ones. Prior to Gautama Buddha, there have been countless Buddhas to walk this samsara. Beings have become Buddha doing meditation when Hinduism did not even exist. In fact, Buddhism has no beginning whereas you can date the origin of Hinduism which you clearly did in your comment. Buddhism has no founder because it is just a law of nature which can only be discovered. Secondly Hinduism is an organized religion and also one product of Indic civilization just like Buddhism, to the Buddhists and the rest of the world. As Hindu seeing Hinduism as not an organized religion is your way of perceiving but to the Buddhists and to the rest of the world, Buddhism and Hinduism are two separate religions today with different beliefs and philosophies. Buddhists don't agree to Hinduism and its beliefs of Gods or whatever. The superficial few similarities that you are comparing have total different definitions and meanings. Thirdly, Gautama Buddha was never a Hindu. He was born to a Hindu family but never showed any interest in Hinduism. That is why he discovered Buddhism for which he was destined. Plus Buddha did not take any wisdom from any religion. He taught what he discovered. He didn't deny what was true. He denied what was not true. An unenlightened beings like us can't degrade an enlightened beings, the transcendent ones who know everything. Accusing awaken beings for stealing is foolish. Lastly, all I want to say is, stealing the credit of others' work is not so pleasant. It's shameful. Learn to give credit to the rightful owners. Don't demand. And yeah before throwing any assertion against other religions, make sure you read the scriptures of other side and understand how different it is from your beliefs instead of making groundless claims. In fact, why don't you do the same observation with the Buddhist and Hindu yogis and see the result?
@1world4884 жыл бұрын
@@kirangodishelas please dear Hindu, don't make any assumptions based on your biased beliefs and understanding. The gurus of Siddhartha were not even Hindu. They were Sramanic who clearly opposed Hinduism. Not much later, even those Sramanic saints followed Buddhism and Buddha. Moreover even Hindu saints converted to Buddhism. Prior to Gautama Buddha, beings have become a Buddha doing meditation when there wasn't even a belief called Hinduism according to Buddhist scriptures. Don't demand for which you are not even rightful, dear Hindu

So if our parents didn't have the tools to give to us, then why aren't we covering this in public school? Seems to be the most important thing anyone can learn. Most of my life I have been trying to manage my emotions but didn't know there was actually a path......
