A Knife From Temu That Looks Like A BM Shootout - Way Overpriced at $26!

I have done my own backyard testing (aka playing) with some of these steels. Even the ones labelled as D2 are mostly clearly not D2. When I do an acid etch and stonewash on the blades, they have a tight grain structure (not the big carbides and banding like D2) and the steel is quite stain resistant. The way it sharpens and edge retention on cardboard cutting is similar to 9CR. Most are a bit better than 8CR. Thats from my own experimentation - Its a roll of the dice with these knockoffs anyway.

Thanks for sharing that. I did put it on the Worksharp system and the blade was pretty soft on this. I'm thinking that it might be 8CR at best. Possibly 5CR.

I figured as much with the play in the blade. I was never a fan of that style knife. Evat 26 bucks its just me. Fun to play with. But not practical. Thanks for the video. Great channel.

The Livewire is the only OTF from OK Knives worth getting, the others are nothing special. For 55 bucks you can get a Hifinder Combat Troodon with real D2 steal and great action, honestly its the best bang for the buck knockoff out there. For top of the line OTF, look for Vespa, real M390 and better fit and finish than a real Microtech

I've only had one OTF and it was a cheap Lightning Elite.. great little knife for what it cost. It was $35 I think. Not bad. This BM knockoff looks alright at least lol.. and the paint probably helps keep rust off the pot-metal blade lol

If the Chinese knock it off then theres a good chance that particular model either is manufactured or parts are made in china and assembled in america. This holds true for most if not all knockoff items

I think with today’s tech, China can pretty much knock off anything they want. They have some kind of magic cloning machines or something! 😂

I'd probably try the version from ok-knives.net. I'm not sure it will be any better, but their clones generally seem to be better quality.

g10 is heavy my guess the weight difference is there they used g10 which would be much heavier than a carbon fiber nylon.

Yeah, its definitely not a G10 handle. I don't think it's carbon fiber nylon either. It's relatively cheap plastic. But it's thick enough to feel somewhat solid. You can't easily crush it.

I've bought 2 of these from AliExpress. Also bought the Kershaw Livewire knock-off. I think I paid $35-$40 for it. It was "supposed" to come with magnacut steel. I knew it wouldn't. The blade says 20CV which is a good steel. Whatever the steel is it was sharp (mostly) on arrival. I've got it sharpened to .5 micron now and can read off the reflection. Hope that helps.

I have one of these I bet the steel is 5cr. It’s total crap. I sharpened it and it sharpens horribly.

Yeah, I've still got most of them at the moment. I have given a few to some friends and my kids. (I always let them know they're fakes but they don't care.) I'll probably do some giveaways as the channel grows.

This is just a phase I’ve been going through lately and there’s not much out there as far as reviews so I thought I’d so something a little different. But yes, there are many great affordable knives to choose from - many of which are better quality and materials than these. These are just fun for now. 😊

You should take a look at Chinese knives that are not knock offs. There are some good looking original designs and quality doesn’t seem too bad. Vespa makes some good looking OTFs

Thanks. I just watched a review on one of the Vespa OTFs and the reviewer said that he really liked the quality of it. I do plan on reviewing some of the better "clones" that are not branded like the counterfeits. I think that's the direction I'm headed after I get thru the knockoffs I already have sitting here.
