I’ve just discovered your channel and absolutely love it. Watching as many episodes as I can while the weather outside is less than desirable. This particular video hit me right in the feels. My wife is also a nurse and I know exactly how it feels to want to share these experiences together however her work dictates differently. It makes those times we do get to spend together even more special. All the best and thanks for sharing your amazing stories.

Thanks mate. Creating this KZbin channel and getting lovely comments like this is one info the reasons I can’t stop going on Adventures. I just want to keep filming stuff. It can be so hard leaving Sarah at home because she is always working. One positive is I always come home so happy and it generally makes her happy that I’m happy. Let’s count how many times I just wrote happy 😂 Anyway it’s a tricky situation and I feel for all the nurses and their families. It’s a tough gig. I just try and spend as much time with her as I can when she isn’t working. That seems to be working at the moment. Thanks for watching all the videos, making them is so fun 😃

At least that river crossing wasn’t crazy !😂 That hut is beautiful, been there a few times on the horses and got some awesome shots of the river ! Can’t wait to get up there again 🤠

Haha, yes it was very manageable this time round. The first time I came to this hut was right in the middle of the day and the lighting was average. I was genuinely blown away this time there, with the moody sky and afternoon sun this place really was beautiful. It’s now one of my favourites 😁

Awesome mate, enjoy the moments. My wife is also a nurse so fully understand the challenges of getting away, the hours and the roster it a wonder we have any nurses at all to be honest. So thank you to all our nurses and those in similar fields. All i can say mate is just make every moment count 👍👍🤠. Great video too, love it down there
@advanturest Жыл бұрын
Cheers Shad! That’s it, it seems the years are ticking by faster than ever so just have to make the most of every free minute. The nursing roster system is an absolute joke. Your not wrong with the comment about “it’s a wonder we have any nurses” I’m not sure how they put up with it. Even a rotating roster would be better and at least they could plan. Sarah only gets about 6 weeks notice and it changes every block. It really is crazy. There is some thoughts to possibly going casual which would free up some time but we’ll see what happens. All I can say is its lucky Sarah loves caring for people 😁 Saying all this, being a nurse is probably a good thing if we do eventually do a lap. She should be able to get work in most places. Still the dream 😂

Ace video, really love your Alpine park footage, it's really inspiring to me to get myself up to the high country soon! My partner has just gone back to 5 days a week, and I'm still 3.5days. It's hard when the balance isn't the same, so I really appreciate it when I get out with her just like you did here. Great video. Really appreciate genuine content.
@advanturest Жыл бұрын
3.5 days, That’s the dream. Well that’s coming from someone who works 5 and sometimes 6 days a week. The high country is beautiful. You should definitely check it out. Sarah’s work roster could be good if we did the same shifts but that’s not the case, our balance is definitely way out at the moment. What makes it worse is she normally wastes her days off because everyone is busy, working. On the weekends she does get off there always seems to be something on so getting out with her is always a challenge. This trip was actually a Sunday night and I had to take leave to make it happen, but that’s ok. I’d prefer not to work 😂 Thanks for watching mate 👍

@@advanturest - yeah, I find it hard when I've got a night where Tess is working the next day. I often think about getting out, but don't. It's hard figuring that out. I've just been planning more, rather than springing it on her on the day (which is usually how I used to go for quick overnights). Now I tend to say that I'll go Sunday if the weather looks OK, then if it's not forecast for 20mm I'm out the door! Tess used to do shifts as a nurse, and we struggled much more. Planning the high country as soon as the snow clears, not geared up for the snow as yet. Mt Howitt & crosscut saw I'm thinking down here in Vic.

@speedygarage264 Жыл бұрын
@@advanturest Thanks for the reply - I've been thinking of switching to the Canon R line - I'm still shooting with my M50 and M6, but full frame seems pretty tempting. Do you think the R6 is worth the extra price over a used R or RP?
@advanturest Жыл бұрын
@@speedygarage264 Sorry this could be a long answer. I could talk cameras all day 😂 I had to watch a few of your videos before I replied. I’m constantly watching the latest camera reviews and I also get very tempted with new cameras, the reality is I can’t even maximise the potential of what I’ve got. I think you’re nailing it in terms of video quality. KZbin says it’s 4K but I know 1080 can be upscaled. I’m watching on a 4K 27inch monitor and I’m really not sure what resolution you’re shooting. I know this doesn’t answer your question but it’s just an example that the latest full frame camera may not make much of a difference. Now for my thoughts on the R series. I always wanted a full frame for low light photography and a few years ago my canon 70D got smashed and I ended up getting the EOSr through insurance. I had to pay half. The 1080 on the EOSr was so good compared to my 70D. After about a year of shooting video I wanted to shoot 4K. The problem with the R is it has a huge crop in 4K. I still had all my efs crop sensor lenses so it was ok when just shooting video. I also take photos and these lenses didn’t work for photo. I’d go bikepacking with lenses for video and lenses for photos. Ridiculous 😂 This and the R not having the scroll wheel or joystick I ended up upgrading to the R6. 10bit 4K is ridiculously sharp and I love it but the files can be a punish to edit. I love the camera but it has its issues. IBIS wobble is real, it ruins a lot of shots, I’ve kind of got a work around with warp stabiliser but the footage has to be shot with ibis off, if I shoot wide angle with ibis on the footage is bad. I’m constantly turning ibis on and off for different lenses. The R6 also has a different colour science to other canon cameras. I’m always adjusting colours in post trying to make it better but I’m an amateur and don’t really know what I’m doing. Another huge issue with the R series cameras is the lenses. They are big and expensive. Very expensive. I take my camera bikepacking and id actually love a smaller camera. Mine is a tank. Smaller camera means smaller lenses. Definitely something to consider. There is also some other great full frame cameras on the market. I’m liking the Lumex S5ii and just today the S5iiX was announced. Sony’s always seem popular but I’m yet to try one. It’s a very difficult decision. If you had to get new lenses if you upgraded to an R series then I’d definitely do some research on other brands. I probably haven’t helped at all but they’re some of my thoughts. In Australia a RF 24-70 f2.8 is $4000. Absolutely mental for someone who just does this as a hobby like myself. Oh one last thought. The R6 files can be hard to edit because of the compression but one good thing about this is even in 4K you don’t burn through expensive memory cards like other cameras which is nice. Less compression equals bigger files but easier to edit. Goodluck with your decision.

Yeah, she did. Only problem is she now gets more jealous when I go off without her. I still feel bad every time. We finally had another weekend free together last month and we were going to go hike in camping again, As usual when she gets a free weekend the weather was terrible. Instead, we managed to find a last-minute tiny home special, so we did that. Not quite as cool as an alpine hut but it was still very nice. A little more luxurious. I could get use to this camping thing with a comfy bed and hot shower 😀 Cheers

You can drive down as far as Tantangara Creek. It’s gated there. It is a 4wd track down from the Bullocks hill campground. There is one steepish bit. I have a Landcruiser but we did it in my friends all wheel drive Mitsubishi Outlander with no problem. From the gate it’s about 6.5km each way. Hope that helps
