A. Lange & Söhne is simply the best watchmaking company in the world. They are extremely underrated just because of the silly fact that they are not from Switzerland. But they're producing the finest quality timepieces in the world. I have a deep respect for their works.

Lange und Söhne is the brand that made me a mechanical watch enthousiast several years ago with their Langematik perpetual. While that was not their most complicated watch, it was the watch that opened my eyes to the mechanical ingenuity behind traditional watchmaking. I was really impressed that the moonphase as well as the perpetual calendar complication were implemented purely with mechanics (and without the need of electronics such as on smartwatches) while still keeping the design traditional, simple and, well, simply beautiful. This triggered me to explore the world of mechanical watch making more and so far the journey has been brilliant. And now that I'm wearing a 'Build your own watch' timepiece, I appreciate the craftsmanship even more. Anyway, great to see Lange und Söhne still keep their traditions alive. Amazing time pieces.
@watchestv-com7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this enthusiastic comment and what kind of "build your own" did you build? Best to you
@LutherWallander7 жыл бұрын
TheWATCHES.tv Thanks! I was specifically referring to this company: www.buildyourownwatch.com They ship the watch components separately so that the customer is able to assemble his watch himself. Truth to be told: the movement itself is already completed (it’s a Miyota 8125 movement); the customer needs to put the hands on the movement, the rotor, put it in the watch case etc. Nevertheless, it gives a slight taste of how high end watches are painstakingly assembled. And as it was given to me as a present and since it is my first ever mechanical time piece, it has extra value to me. Best regards

For this reason a Lange is one the best pioneers in the business. Always the best designs and ideas in its watches. Greatness.

Lange are my favourite luxury watch - the movements are so 3D and layered. I love thin mechanical watches on the wrist but have to admit the thicker cases enable the movement and dials to be much more interesting to look at.

Gianpa kasa Agree - I especially prefer Lange’s movements to all other watches I’ve seen - they are works of art in their own right.

Disagree. L&S watches are bulky and their style is quite primitive and uninspired, similar to some factory gauges.

I noticed on the jumping seconds watch as well as on another one from a different brand which also had a ticking seconds subdial that the 2 seconds displays are not syncronized which looks a bit odd as if the watch is showing two timezones. Any explanation for that?
@Scarecrow-zr3zx7 жыл бұрын
He forgot to mention that the jumping seconds hand can act like a stopwatch so you can start and stop it while letting the sub seconds hand continue. You can't reset it though.

Exactly and thanks for the update for scuba453

A question that always I wanted to ask: Can somebody asks people at the ALS to customize a certain model in a different case material than the original marketing ad? Does the answer apply to other well-known brands?
@watchestv-com7 жыл бұрын
I think this always comes down to budget, but some brands are totally against such customisation and some others have dedicated departments to handle this, for instance the Cabinotier department of Vacheron Constantin

I don’t understand the jumping seconds complication. What is the point of going through the difficult work of trying to build a mechanical that behaves like a quartz?
@watchestv-com7 жыл бұрын
Jumping seconds are judged as being more accurate for the timing fans and it is a technical complication in terms of development, but I understand your point of view, so to have both resolves this issue ;) Best to you
