I can respect them for being so honest about restricting who they allow to buy the watches.

@@WatchAdvisor 250 pieces...meh...I have an Omega diver's watch that was one of 150 numbered pieces specially made for the Royal Navy divers (with their unit insignia on the back) and never available on the civilian market.😘 How do I have one? After 10 or 15 years some of the original owners start to sell them! It wont be different with the Odysseus - sooner or later these "known collectors" will sell them (probably 'sooner' if there is money to be made!)

A absolute stunning watch. And a super review Alexander. Sadly not available even for collectors who already own a Lange. According to the manufacture you must apply for it. Nice evening

I think watch fans will like this because it's not another blue dial. Yes, it's a shame that it's a LE of 250 pieces. But save, wait, and communicate enough, and the chronograph version will be available. Alex, you're on one!

I wasn’t particularly a fan of the Odysseus in this version until your video. As usual the master of KZbin when it comes to review watches made its magic 💥👌

Don’t know how to feel about the price being almost 40% more expensive than the WG version.. Feels weird to be paying more for titanium

Only 250 as to put it on the wrists of collectors instead of flippers are you kidding flippers and the aftermarket getting it is exactly what's going to happen.

Great channel with some amazingly detailed reviews, but one thing I would advise is changing the studio lighting - it's way too sharp almost like you're looking at the watch under a light bulb. This gives too many burned out areas especially in satin/polished watches, hands etc. I would suggest a more soft light or a softbox setup as the existing lighting doesn't do the watches justice.
@WatchAdvisor2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your input! Are you referring to this particular video or is this a general criticism?
@PoltergeistWorks2 жыл бұрын
@@WatchAdvisor I would say in many videos on the close-up shots this sharp lighting is present, for example the ZENITH Defy Skyline video is another good example where alot of the watch is burned out most of the time. I know watches with that kind of finish can be especially challenging to shoot as it could also be the fault of the camera not having enough dynamic range to capture the brightest areas properly (or it's automatically trying to compensate for the darker parts, black gloves etc.). These shots would benefit from manual exposure settings focused on the watch itself (that don't compensate for surroundings) and I would say most importantly a softer, bounced light source such as a lightbox.

Thanks for the great presentation, danke & merci.. It is a masterpiece. But "ice blue" ? There is another watch brand from Geneva - i forgot the name - which makes platinum pieces including dials with date, day and chronographs with the same title. why didn´t ALS choose some different wording? "ice grey" ?

Superb review as always Alexander- thank you. I do think a splash of colour on the dial would have lifted it, however. Maybe a red seconds hand with a matching 60 on the subdial?

You would think the date would flip at 12, rather than slowly turn from 11.45pm onwards.

At only $55k, did you buy two Alexander? ;-)
@WatchAdvisor2 жыл бұрын
Well also if I tried to buy one I wouldn't have got one... Wilhelm is very strict and allocates these watches to A. Lange & Söhne longterm hardcore collectors only...
@dud3n3552 жыл бұрын
So basically this model is being used as a publicity stunt since no one outside of the 'special collectors' can purchase it.... I find this very unfortunate and this is not a correct mentality for a company like this. Then just admit that ALS wants to be an elite company. (If necessary, put a condition in the purchase contract that if owners wish to sell their watch, they must first offer it to ALS. Ferrari has been doing this lately too) Too bad.... I like(d) the titanium watch
@WatchAdvisor2 жыл бұрын
Contracts like the ones you mention are not worth the paper they are printed on… It is your property, you can do what you want with it. Knowing your buyer means knowing if the watch will end up on the grey market or not… That’s the purpose of the exercise… and not what you think…
@dud3n3552 жыл бұрын
@@WatchAdvisor Sorry if i dont understand the story but Ferrari etc want someone to first purchase a second hand and learn the qualities of the brand, only then will they be included in the select club of enthusiasts. I don't understand why ALS wants to get to know its customers in this way. But then that will be my modest and limited knowledge of the ins and outs of the watch world....

This is the silly thing about the watch craze we see nowadays. This thing should have been DOA, but they keep making it because people will buy pretty much anything in this environment. This is one of the signs that we are in a bubble.
@FFL30012 жыл бұрын
I wonder if Lange knows this and that's why they keep making these limited production runs of the Odysseus. Maybe they're afraid to flood the market in case the bottom falls out. But c'mon.... 250 pieces? Do they really have so little faith in their own brand?
@nishantprakash59282 жыл бұрын
@@FFL3001 If AP orPatek made 10 watches then people like you would be going crazy. But you have a problem when Lange did it. You might wanna rethink about who is actually in the watch bubble, asshat
