This fanfiction alone gave peach more depth as a character than the ENTIRE FRANCHISE. Lets admit it, the only thing she ever does in mario games is being kidnapped and scream marios name. Sure, she got her own DS game that established that she has some attitude, but she doesnt even speak there. This is way better, and it isnt even official.

It's been my headcanon for a while that Mario can't speak English very well and mainly talks in his native language of Italian, knowing only a few basic English phrases (the ones he uses in games), meanwhile Luigi is fluent in both Italian and English.

I've seen so much animations that portrays Mario as either an attention seeking egotist, a murderous sociopath, or an abusive brother, so seeing a video that represent the characters accurately is really refreshing! The writing reminds me of Mario & Luigi and Paper Mario, the references to past games are plentiful, and the art is gorgeous. I'm fourteen minutes in right now. Entirely hooked. Wasn't sure what to expect when I first clicked. But the narration is phenomenal, the voice acting is varied enough that a few characters voiced by the same person all have such separate personalities, and those not voiced by Prozd are equally skilled and fitting. Loving the heck outta this.

This video, single-handedly, is making me want to read more wholesome and deep fanfic like this. This feels so real and grounded in the Mario world, the references, the politics, the characters, their feelings, it doesn't feel like an alternate fan universe, it feels like an extension of the existing Mario universe and that's great, the drawings, the writing, the narration, the voice acting, they all come together so beautifully, I can't help but feel for the characters and their troubles.

Wow, I really like this! I'm a big Mario fan, but I hardly ever find anyone who treats the series respectfully in fan works. I'm glad this got retweeted onto my Twitter timeline! ..Yeesh. Thought this little story would have gone way different after hearing "Super Crown." You can blame Twitter for that. Both the story and the reading blow me away. Well my favourite thing about this - Silent characters tend to rub me the wrong way. I love playing Mario and Zelda games, but it has always bugged me that I'm playing as this weird personality-less cipher who doesn't always fit naturally into a world of semi-fleshed out characters. Imo this is legit really good shit. It gave peach more depth than the games do, because lets be honest, peach doesn’t do anything notable in most of the games that speak about her *personality* and character. Nintendo never really bothered to elaborate more on Mario and Peach’s relationship.

This single fanfiction gave more depth to peach than every single mario game in existence combined. Same applies to bowser, only to a lesser degree. All her subjects and everything she has in her possesion may MAKE her powerful, but does peach herself FEEL like she is powerful? Does she think she deserves it? Maybe she feels bad for being so vulnerable when being kidnapped by bowser? And speaking of Bowser, just think how much he immediately worried and prepared for when peach came on her own. Sure, he is really stubborn, but surely under all that knuckleheadedness there must be a genuine desire to feel love for someone. Maybe Bowser wants somebody to love because his entire life was almost devoid of genuine love or care. He was raised by Kamek, but we dont really know if he CARED about Bowser in the slightest. I dont know, just my thoughts. Makes your mind work. Its good to see a quality fan work get attention. Good work ProZD!
