Ah great timing. I literally learnt this today. Was struggling with the graphs.

Why do you ignore the value of alpha as a translation parallel to the x-axis? Is it because there’s no range for the graph??
@TLMaths4 жыл бұрын
Translating the graph horizontally will not affect the range of the function (the range is the set of y-values, which won't change as the graph is not moving up or down).

Why did you just ignore the sin... on the denominator I don't really understand that part
@TLMaths2 жыл бұрын
Not sure what you mean by ignoring the sin? In calculating the min/max, you consider when sin(theta+79.7) is 1 or -1, as that are its two extreme values.

when do you know to work in radians or degrees?
@TLMaths2 жыл бұрын
To find the maximum or minimum value, it doesn't matter. If you're told to find alpha or solve an equation, then you'll be told which to use.

I don't see how you got 40/(20+/-5sqrt(5)) for the max/min values.
@TLMaths2 жыл бұрын
sin(theta+79.7) goes between -1 and 1. So 5sqrt(5)*sin(theta+79.7) goes between -5sqrt(5) and 5sqrt(5). So the denominator goes between 20-5sqrt(5) and 20+5sqrt(5) So the fraction goes between 40/(20+5sqrt(5)) and 40/(20-5sqrt(5))
