Patagonia

Күн бұрын

Long considered impossible, coveted by many and attempted by a few, the Fitz Traverse has fueled the imaginations of climbers in Patagonia for decades. Tracing the iconic skyline of Cerro Fitz Roy and its six satellite peaks, it spans four miles and 13,000 feet across snow and ice-covered rock, with epic route finding and endless rapelling. Seizing their chance during a rare extended weather window, Tommy Caldwell and Alex Honnold went big. The pair completed the first ascent in a five-day push during February 2014.

About Patagonia:
At Patagonia, we appreciate that all life on earth is under threat of extinction. We’re using the resources we have-our business, our investments, our voice and our imaginations-to do something about it.

@@hgivens07 Agreed. I do, however, point out that - as far as I have checked - there is only one climber who has climbed a 5.15d - Adam Ondra on his own Silence in Flatanger. There are three climbers who've climbed 15c or above, which is maybe what you meant.

@@gio1985s honnold is a gifted climber. Top tier in multi pitch and craig climbing, what people refer to as "big wall" (tommy cladwell is as good as alex in this). But if we are talking about routes shorter than 70-80 meters, he's probably not in the top 100. There are climbers way stronger and more flexible than him that could flash (finish a line in the first push) routes that honnold would have to project for months.

People mentioned the storms, but forgot to mention the 100 km/h winds when the sky is perfectly blue and the sun is shining. Other than that, I believe the El Chaltén area to be the most beautiful place in Patagonia, bar none. Torres del Paine comes a close second, but Chaltén is the most beautiful for sure. Plus Chaltén itself has that Patagonian small town spirit, and it is the perfect hub for going anywhere by foot. In TdP you need vehicles to reach places like Los Cornos from Las Torres, and it is much, much more expensive than Chaltén. In Chaltén there are many places nearby that are amazing, like Rio Toro, Valle del Desierto, and the area surrounding the Fitz Roy Massif is absolutely gorgeous.

takeyournumber yes I know this, but like I said, I believe it's hard for many customers to choose between the two, and even though it was two lifelong friends that created each brand, they are direct competitors, and in the 21st century, competitors play hard ball, and none of us would ever want to see these companies suing each other over their extremely similar products. If they aren't currently merged in some way, that disappoints me, because like most consumers, I often can't buy from both brands. Purchasing is voting, and I have always hated voting for one brand and against the other, when I'm really trying to vote for the same message.
