Great video! Proof you don't have to spend thousands of dollars on one locomotive to have fun in this hobby!😊

Man, Chooch, you definitely put together two beautiful trains of box cars! I particularly liked seeing that post war steamer plying the rails with all of the beautiful box cars. Definitely an awesome smoker. Great job, Chooch, you did it! Thank you! Bill B.

Thanks, Bill! I'm glad that you like it. I wanted to keep the #41 going, but it tends to poop-out. Oy!

BTW, I use MTH ProtoSmoke. It works quite well in post-war steam engines, with the pill-style smoke units.

@@johnandrus3901 Oh, yes, I understand! Nice little locomotive though. You know there is no rule limiting the number of videos one can contribute for the challenge. So, if you have another loco or string of box cars you want to share you can always do so. The challenge does not end until New Year's Day. Bill

Some info on the trains. The outside loop has the MPC 8370 NYC F3, from the 1983 20th Century Limited Set, with all modern boxcars, from MTH, K-Line, Williams, Lionel LTI and LLC. The middle loop has the 2026, from my brother's original 1948 set, with a couple of 6464 cars and a pair of pre-war, carryover cars, the PRR Automobile Boxcar and gondola, from 1946-47 and the 2472 caboose. The inner loop has my brother's original #41 Army switcher, with the operating boxcar and brakeman car, with the 6257 SP-style caboose. The #41 basically tires out, after a couple of times around the layout, but it's a trooper.

@@johnandrus3901 Thanks for all the info. I couldn’t tell for sure, but was thinking perhaps the 2026 was a 2035. Do you actually have an idea of why the #41 tires out. Some sort of mechanical problem, worn parts. I don’t know just figure you might. I enjoyed seeing you trains running today.

@@ozarkmidlandsouthernrailway I don't know why it tires out, Bill. I serviced it earlier this summer. The commutator surface is in good shape I put new springs in to hold the brushes. I cut a spring in half, that came out of a light socket. Maybe, they are too long or too heavy duty? The brushes were a bit worn, but seemed OK. The pressure from the new springs may be wearing them out. Not sure, really. It ran quite fine on my inner loop, when it only went around the town. Hopefully, I'll figure it out. I run the 2026 the most, because it smokes way better than the others. I really need to service the other's smoke units. My MTH Pacific smokes real good, too, but it didn't fit with the theme of the video. I'll change things up, for the next one.🙂

@@johnandrus3901 I read your reply with interest especially about #41as there was a time years ago when my focus was on post war trains. While I now operate almost entirely command control equipment, I still really appreciate the post war trains. Is the motor overheating in a big way? I think focusing on the brushes and springs is the way to go. You might try just simply replacing both with new ones and see what that does. I have a friend who repairs Lionel post war equipment and will ask him what he thinks the issue could be. Take care. Bill PS I'll look forward to seeing your next box car video.

@@ozarkmidlandsouthernrailway Thanks, Bill. It's perplexing, for sure. Maybe, it just doesn't like to pull cars around, that much. I may go down and run it without the body on it. I've got some ideas in my head about the next video and I'll have something in day or so.

I have them set-up, but they need some work, before they are ready for video. They are all around 60 years old and need some TLC, to really get them working like new. They are 1/32 Revell, Eldon and Strombecker, Aurora HO and Ideal Motorific. I'll try to get them operational, before Christmas. I also have some Tyco and Life-Like sets. I have a Lionel HO set, with the Loop-d-loop, but it is at a friends house.
