Note Timothy was 62-63 in this performance. Incredible voice at that age!

Okay so they did a replica of the original production in 2004!! This is so great!

Ditto the thank yous. I remember seeing Timothy Nolen in this production and now I'll be looking for my program to see if I also saw Elaine Page. I don't think I did because her portrayal of Mrs. Lovett here would be something I definitely would have remembered.

I swear they milked every joke out of that song, excellent. I know it well, but still laughed. Dying is easy, comedy is hard.

OMG I never thought I'd live to see the day to find footage of Tim Nolen as Sweeney Todd! THis so made my night!

Thank you for posting. They are both utterly divine. I saw the original many times and I am stunned to say that I prefer Paige.

Timothy should’ve done the 25th anniversary. He may have been 73 at the time, but in 2012 he did the lead as Sweeney in Chicago opera at the age of 71!!!!!!

He was in the concert version with George Hern and Patti Lupone as Judge Turpin. I was watching past Phantom Of The Opera things and discovered he was the Phantom many years ago.

@@stormyblueeyed1 it’s in 1988-1989. He played the phantom after Michael Crawford.

What's all this "Angela and George" worship here, and no mention of Len Cariou, the original and still the champ. But Nolen's terrific.

Do you have the full performance
@Devinlock11 жыл бұрын
Quite indeed, you can easily see they're trying to be George and Angela, wah'ts to me easily the best performance of Sweeney Todd.

I wish he returned to phantom :(

anyone else think they're overplaying it :| i mean there's comedy in the song and in the premise (and the fact that it is *sung* is bloody brilliant), its a good crowd-puller but that's not what Sweeney Todd is. There's the plot, and this macabre tale carrying much truth and carried so well by music; playing it naturalistically then brings it out more, no need for 'comedic' distractions!

krys yuan well I think they did it brilliantly this song does have cheesy puns in it so whatever way you play it it'll still be funny

Jesus Christ! I had no idea there could be a Sweeney Todd as good (or better) than George Hearn.
@kennethwayne68573 жыл бұрын
I feel the same. I have a very hard time deciding who is my favorite Sweeney, Hearn or Nolen. I suppose I shouldn't try to compare them.

Their acting styles are in sync. Lansbury was a musical hall comic, Cariou as though he was in an opera....and both were great but for me they didn't work well together.

Everybody Says There Trying To Be Like Goerge And Angela But Theres Two Diffrences Tim Nolen Portrays Sweeney As An Angry Man With A Lot Of Energy And Goerge Hearn Portrays Him On Otherhand As Insane Revenge Drivin Mad Man Which Works And Now On The Two Lovetts Angela Lansbury Portrays Mrs Lovett As A Motherfigure With A Evil Mind While Elaine Paige Portrays Her As A Lunatic With A Mind Of A Genius

I agree, they are overplaying it way too much... I'm debating if i should keep watching it. They are trying too hard to be Angela & George & they are failing at it, in Theater you must be yourself but of course with a little past mixed in.
@noneofyourbusiness94367 жыл бұрын
Janea Castillo well no they're really not if you go back and actually look at Angela and George then look at this then you'll actually see the difference
