Someone went bananas on the spark plug. Lucky you it came out so easily!

Very lucky getting that broken plug out. That could of been a massive repair effort

And this is why real mechanics exist - not only the right tool for the job (which you may need once a year if that) but the skill to use it.

Love watching you diagnose the different issues. We need more mechanics like you. Thank you for what you do. God bless you and your family.

A few years ago I watched someone install spark plugs with an impact wrench it still gives me shudders even now

I have a piece of rubber hose in my tool box for installing spark plugs, no dropping and no cross threading with a rubber hose . Torque wrench for the new guys. I have used a very short ratchet for install for all my 50 years of doing it. I learned all that from my dad when we were building VW bug engines in my early teens.

As a diyer especially with aluminum heads I never use an impact always by hand so I can have a better feel for it and when I install the new ones I torque with an inch pound torque wrench especially when working on someone else's stuff

Same here totally. I'm very very careful with aluminum heads. I've seen way too many messed up ones.

Only time I will use an impact on spark plugs is when removing them getting replaced.I have a 3/8 stubby Nepros ratchet that I snug them down with by hand installing the spark plug

It's amazing that someone would use a impact wrench on something with a ceramic insulator. Crazy to think an impact is a good idea.

Good day Mr Kenny 🤠 Hope y'all have a wonderful day. Oh tell Mrs Meg I said howdy, and thank you for the great videos.

I think you (and the customer) are very lucky the rest of the plug came out in one piece and relatively easy. Shops that use impact for sparkplugs should close IMO. Good luck with determining what causes the misfire.

It's atrocious that some of the quick oil change places ridiculously tighten the oil drain plug.
@angelr88923 сағат бұрын
Cadillac dealership did it to my ATS when it had free oil changes. First oil change I did after, I had to use a breaker bar to loosen the plug. Luckily it wasn't stripped. Takes a cartridge type oil filter. Cap on that was super tight too. I guess oil changers everywhere are under pressure to get them done quick, so use power tools to do it, some haven't figured out how to use the adjuster to lessen drive torque.

Oh crap! I've never ran into that before 😮 WOW. Did actually break a plug taking it out, but it just broke at the insulator 😮.

The first guy I worked for as a mechanic showed me how to use an impact on spark plugs and took out the threads in the customer's 1 year old car
@TStheDeplorable3 сағат бұрын
Guys look at me funny, but I'll look up the torque spec on plugs and use a torque wrench. If the plug gets stuck and breaks when it comes out 5 years down the road, it won't be my fault.

These engines have misfire issues specifically on cylinder 2 pertaining to valve seats. My humble opinion is that this was the original problem, and someone wanted to try a new spark plug.

Replacing an injector without diagnosing it first? I’ve seen a lot of inconsistent misfires caused by a mechanical issue/ low compression.

Hi Kenny Can you put a like out on the set of easy outs you used on the spark plug Thanks

The other guy messed up twice, he should have taken the crush washer off. You don't need one with the spark plug tube.

If I were a customer of that shop (1 I would report the shop to the BBB (2 I would make a negative post on Facebook or Yelp. One of two things will happen (1 the technician will be reprimanded by the CSA/Store Manager (2 To CSA/Store Manager will fire the technician (3 they will do nothing and eventually lose enough customers that they will close their doors. Negative press for that shop on social media not only loses that customer effects future customers because if they see that negative post if that customer had that problem we’re not going to use them when enough future customers do that and lose enough customers whether it be Facebook or Yelp that they are not making a profit and they can’t stay in business they close their doors or business. 🙂
