I owned one of these as a kid. Wanted one really bad and bugged my parents incessantly until I got one for Christmas. It seemed so much more advanced and futuristic than the LED games that came before (of which I had a few). Besides the Blockbuster game (which came with the unit), I eventually acquired the Star Trek game, but I remember that being a disappointment. However, I played the hell out of Blockbuster. I don't think I experienced screen rot with mine, but I probably lost interest in the game before that happened. I haven't thought about the Microvision in ages. Thanks for the memories.

Love your content. Lots of people do different types of videos on this genre. But I’ve never seen one show the games at the end of the video so that we know what they look like. Usually just a few throughout the video. Love that we can see more

Thanks, I appreciate it. Glad you enjoyed. Yeah I've always felt unless you have game play in the video, it doesn't really complete the video. Makes people wonder what the games were like. Too bad I had to use an emulator on this one, as I couldn't find a good working microvision to be able to use. They all had screen rot. Thanks for watching.

Didn't know anything about this handheld! Based off the commercial, at the time, it'd would seem to be way cool and definitely on my Christmas list haha.

Back then, I was into the Coleco table tops. I had one and so did my sister. I remember seeing these Microvision's in the Christmas catalog's, but never really wanted it. I had a friend that had one but it hardly worked. lol But it was revolutionary for using a "dot matrix" lcd that Nintendo improved on in the Gameboy. Nintendo took the technology from 16x16 pixels to 160x144 pixels, and being able to make real 8 bit video games on a handheld. But better screens were on just on the horizon, like what was in the NEC Turbo Express, Atari Lynx and Sega Game Gear. But lets face it, what out sold all of those combined with tech directly derived from the Microvision. Gameboy😊

Thanks for this great video, I learned a lot. I found it particularly interesting that each game had its own CPU in the cartridge.

Whatcha talk'n bout Willis?? 🤣Man I rocked at Electronic Football. I used to play it watching NFL games when I was a kid. Loved it. It was my first handheld. No, I take that back, it really was my dad's. He just let me play it. 👍 I played Microvision when I was a kid. A friend of mine had one. But it was thrown in his toy chest and all beat up. The screen still worked but the case was broke and only 2 of the 5 games he had worked. He thought it was lame because he had an Atari. You know, it was just another 80's plastic toy. The sad fate of many of these early handhelds.
