Title's pretty self explanatory. Did this because I was bored and never took the time to explore the movements when I opened these up to fix the beat on each one.

Those 30 day wall clocks are the best clocks that strike on hour and half hour Love you Rarezee

You got a good point. Both movements look very similar to the movement of my Centurion 35 day wall clock. I'll bet my Alaron mantel clock has the same movement, although I can't get the dial off because the screws are jammed

Try oiling them or they are stripped out so you have to drill them out and put new ones in or try different screw drivers

Wow you have seikos! I have one Japanese clock which is a seikosha and it has a silver count wheel movement! And it dates from 1901. Question. Why does it have those colours near the winding arbours on the first one??
@DannysClocks4 жыл бұрын
The colors are the indicators for how much winding power the clock has, as the days pass, the colors slowly travel upwards and indicate how much time is left before you need to wind it again. Blue means it's fully wound, white means it's starting to unwind but it's going to continue, and red means it's time to wind it. It's very useful to have, especially on 30 day clocks where you may lose track of when you last wound it. It's very cool you have a count wheel striking Seikosha! These two as far as I know are probably from the 1960s or 70s. I don't see any date markings anywhere in sight.

I don't know what the "counter" is called which moves along the movement and tells the clock how many times to strike. I only know the term for the part that allows it to move into the proper position, which is the "snail".

It really does to be honest! If it peaks your interest, I have a Seiko alarm clock on its way. It may not sound all that interesting, but I find it to be an interesting piece. It's a mechanical alarm clock with an interesting design concept.

I've learned quite a lot of clock terminology since publishing this video, but thank you for letting me know.

How did you take out that clock face?

There are screws that were removed off the front of the clock along with the hands.

There is a clutch wheel for the hour pipe between the plates, on the one I am working on the clutch star piece was loose so the hour hand was also loose. Had to take the plates apart again. Never come across this, on any other clock. kzbin.info/www/bejne/lYerZ4WphMZqqcU Had to sort it out using loctite. Seems o.k now. Rather a flimsy arrangment.

I see that!! Fortunately I've lightly cleaned and re-oiled these two clocks recently so there's new fresh oil in all the places that really require it.
