It's sad but everyone has felt these restrictions. I'm a white funeral director and I see all races and religions have been affected. There is nothing that can be done we must still protect our communities. And the government has challenged our industry to follow strict guidelines.

Traditionally and historically black people have had funerals that are very involved spiritually and the funeral or home going service is part of the fabric of black culture. Covid has impacted the black population much higher than others and not being able to send off their loved ones is especially painful ,and ,that is what this is about. At our funeral home we could not even have friends and neighbors at the beginning of the shutdown. There was no malice or nastiness being thrown to the black community. I have lost six family members to this virus. I've lost my stepmom, aunt, uncle, and three cousins. We couldn't leave our cars for the graveside service. Then we had to burn everything that they owned because of this virus. Its definitely a hard pill to swallow because you give them a proper goodbye.

Mind you, Terry Funeral Home used to be FAMILY OWNED by the Terry Brothers who were loving, kind and compassionate men of God. They buried my grandfather in 1972 and my grandmother decided then, she wanted the "Terry Brothers". Fast forward to January 12, 2012, the Terry Brothers have passed away and we were stuck with this unprofessional, money grubbing clown. A mess.

I know of a young Undertaker who contracted Covid from a descendant. The undertaker passed away he was only in his 30’s. I am a frontline employee who has seen the carnage of this virus first hand. It’s no joke. Epidemiologists are not certain how long after death does this virus survives on the organs or skin. This is why autopsy’s are not allowed only in Medical Examiner cases.
