*Though Cara looks better now, I find it sad that Therese immediately began jumping Cara in the state that she was in. It all seems so rushed. Honestly, she looked like a skeleton hopping around in the beginning. If I were her, I wouldn't even think about jumping that horse until it put on weight and gained it's muscle back with plenty of flatwork. I bought a very bony thoroughbred a couple years ago, and the idea of jumping him in that state wouldn't have even crossed my mind. If I were her, I'd be doing months and months of flat work (light workouts in the beginning, and make them heavier workouts as she gained more muscle) until Cara finally fully recovered and looked like a happy, healthy horse again, and was mentally and physically ready to start jumping.* *I also don't like the fact that she was using ridiculous quotes from people (whether they were real or not) to describe Cara, to make it seem like she bought Cara as this wild, untameable, insane beast. Like for example, "She's absolutely insane and unrideable," or "At least your brave enough to ride her, she's dangerous," Cara wasn't unrideable, insane, or dangerous. She was just a little green, and a very, very, energetic horse. I remember Therese made the same kind of video for her old pony and made him seem like he was a crazy, wild beast, for he was always rearing and acting up with her, but in reality it was just confusion between horse/rider. She was nervous and not as experienced, and pulled on his mouth while sending him forward at the same time, which caused him to act up. It wasn't because he was a insane or dangerous. Do you guys get what I mean? It seems like she made this video to boost her ego, like 'hey look at this crazy horse I have and look how well I can ride through all of her crap, and look how awesome of a horse I made her into now,' :/*

Jennifer Wright Well, luckily for you, she isn't your horse. If you don't like the way Therese trains and does things, you shouldn't be here at all. All you want is attention. Go away if you don't like her and I'm pretty sure she doesn't care about your "training" with your horse or your opinions. You are so negative that you don't see the amazing change in her. I really hope you are not negative to your horses.
@jenniferwright4864
@jenniferwright4864 7 жыл бұрын
"you are so negative that you don't see the amazing change in her,"? Or maybe you're just looking through rose colored glasses, and I'm just being realistic. I never said I don't like the way Therese trains - I said I don't like the fact that she started jumping this horse when she was obviously very skinny and unfit, both physically and mentally. I did state in the beginning that she looks better now. So yes I do believe there was a change in this horse, but not to the extent that Therese made it out to be in the video. The comments she included about how unrideable, and insane she was, in the beginning of the video, really exaggerated everything and it made it seem like she got Cara as this wild ,dangerous unbroken horse, when in reality she was just a little green and very hyper. And yes, I may not agree with the things she does, but I still watch her videos occasionally, because they are entertaining. And who says you can't watch videos from youtubers you don't agree with or like? I watch videos purely on the entertainment factor. And why would having a negative comment on a youtube video about a horse being pushed too far too soon, mean that I'm negative towards my horses? If anything that means that I really do care about a horse's well-being. Both my horses are spoiled, happy and healthy and are treated very well.

Therese.... You are such a HUGE inspiration *crying watching this video*. The sentence 'you believed in me when i didnt believed in my self' is so ON POINT here! You see cara struggling so much with her self, she really has Some issues with herself. And you believe in her and want to help her, and see how it turns out! She is really something else then a Conny d or bea or other horses you learned from, now you can teach her. I can learn so much from you. You are sitting there like a boss like theirs nothing going on, and what you do with your hands, arms, legs, if you have a bit knowledge of thuff horses you see that you're doing excellent with everything. And who doenst sees that just doesnt know much about horses. Keep up doing the good work!

This hits close to home. My rescue was called horrible things, such as "The devil", "evil", "manipulative" etc. But I chose to see the good in him, I didn't see a dangerous horse that was broken. I didn't see a beast that needed to be tamed, I saw a soul that needed to be loved. I was told by everyone that he would be too much for me. I was told he bucks everyone off. I was told you can't bond with him. I was told he tricks you. I was told that horse would kill me. But you know what? Against all odds, with love and time, in after 6 months we recently went on our first trail without being led. Contrary to what everyone told me, he can be an amazing horse. Despite the names he was called, he is now sweet, he is at peace with the world. Good on you for ignoring the haters!

Fact of the matter is she is proud that she rushed that horse and jumps her insane heights in 6 months but cant even canter her calmly. there are many ways to break a horse. the fast cowboy way (chuck everyhthing on buck it out and its broken in 20 mins) or the long calm way (sacking out, ground work and trust building but would take months to years) both ways result in a broken horse but of different quality. my point is she rushed it to say "look how quickly i can make her good" a malnourished horse alone will take months to properly recover never mind time for her brain to adjust and her fitness increase. My issue here is she pushed cara too fast too quickly by cutting corners. Cara is fab but she would be better rounded and more focused if the time was spent with her and taken back to scratch imo

You had the grit, determination, and guts to get on a hotheaded horse who had her own gait, her own style, and own views on what should be done. A lot of people would've gave up on a horse like Cara, but you didn't. You could tell that she was amazing and just needed the painstaking care, attention, and training to become a wonderful horse. This actually gives me confidence to work the difficult horses in the future one day. Any who, you and Cara are a wonderful team and I wish nothing but the best for you and everyone else! P.S. Cara is beautiful. I also like the photo that I see at the end of the video of the compare and contrast of how Cara transformed from a hyper and hotheaded mare who was malnourished to a fully fed, glossy, and calm jumper.

When I watched the first video with Cara, I honestly tought that I wouldn't have been brave enough to ride her, but you never gave up and now she's giving you everything. exactly, it's also the easiest way to teach a horse giving in to the rains and responding better to the leg. You can't just expect a hore to be perfect without first making it. I've never really had problems with my horse, but I helped a friend that had a horse with a big bucking problem. I never even got on the horse, but the bucking stopped after some sensetization and lunging exercises.

Watching what you do with your horses is really amazing. It takes a special kind of rider to get results like this in such a short space of time with a horse like Cara. I truly believe you will achieve your dream of riding in the olympics because with work ethic like yours, you're gonna go seriously far 😊💕💕

you're such an amazing rider. What you've done with this horse (and others!) is just fucking awesome. You're one of my biggest inspiration and I hope that one day I'll be like you. My biggest dream now is to take horses that nobody believes in and change their life around and show everyone all the potential I always saw in them. Well done beautiful xx (Sorry for my english I'm french^^')

my friend recently got given an horse than everyone gave up on. he just threw everyone off and many people tried to break him. Shes taken things SO slow that hes never once tried it with her (and ive seen him in action he can buck like you wouldnt believe) Shes had him a year and most shes done is ride him for 10 mins in walk. BUT it is the calmest most relaxed ive EVER seen him and ive known the horse for years. She knows where his limit is and doesnt push that. so my point there are less stressful/dangerous but more time consuming and patient ways to train a horse. Depends what kind of trainer you want to be. I can guarantee if shed taken a year just to sort out her ground work build trust and sort out the flat work she wouldnt have had to ride through all those tantrums.

Therese, I'm speechless. You are so amazing with Cara. I really wish I was able to do what you did with her. You and Cara are an incredible team, with an incredible story. I really don't know what else to say, because I'm at a loss for words. All of your videos and stories of Cara sometimes make me cry out of happiness for you and the horse. Cara probably wouldn't be on this earth anymore if you gave up. But you didn't and I don't know if you know this, but YOU saved Cara's life.
