Imagine if you moved Harry’s car with the front loader bale grab 😹

Great update Richard, pleased you dont have to be worrying about grass for a while. To me the prevalence of barn conversions shows the decline of agriculture in the last 20 years or so, they are the signifier of societal and economic change moving away from food production in a world that your dad and his forefathers would scarcely recognise. Every conversion is another nail in the coffin for traditional village life and once they're gone they're gone!

You’ve got a hell of a crop of bales Richard
@T.morris1060Ай бұрын
I would clear them lumps of concrete up out the way, could cause bale wrap to get torn!
@paulhannigan7302Ай бұрын
We have this theory in Australia that if the season allows you to make it, then generally you end up needing it.
@thefunkyfarmerАй бұрын
i agree, that often is the case
@chrislee2221Ай бұрын
Lots of stone barn conversions started in the late 70s & early 80 in the South Hams (south Devon), to finance new modern sheds or pay for more land etc. What old barns make these days with OPP is crazy money and cost a ton of ££s to convert far more then a conventional build for the same sqm .

A hell of a load of bales! Morning FF.

All the rain this spring has turned out to be a bit of a blessing.

It was always an saying by farmers that if you have a full barn of forage by now then you usually need it come winter. Never know could be a hard or long winter ahead or even an early winter and start full winter rations. Nice feeling to have a full pit and big pile of bales already.

@michaelproctor5312Ай бұрын
You need to speak to a land agent ,all you need is a footprint, old pictures of a barn and you may still get planning

Another great video has always Richard and Harry and jack and family 👍

What you save on labour with robots, you’d have to spend on maintenance for them. They’d have to go out in the fields in a brand new condition every time, with all the sensors working, that can spot problems. Can only see them being efficient on giant arable farms

Good morning Richard, What Situation to be in grass grass so much grass it’s growing out my A- - lol sorry Richard it just came to me, If there is one man and his family that deserves a hell of a lot of grass it’s you i wish you all the best with your grass. Well Richard you take care of yourself and stay safe.🚜🚜⭐️⭐️👍❤️

Interesting vblog. That rectangular building by your house you could convert into an Airbnb for visiting KZbin subscribers 😂 could be Harry's project. All that extra income would get his new tractor quicker 😊

Good morning Richard..a few months back you were understandably really worried about not having enough grub for the cattle ..but look at you now mate.. I was looking at the price of bales on Facebook market place and some people are really taking the mic out of how much they want per bale.anyway have a great sunday all.sending positive vibes from Cornwall..
@williamhawks2372Ай бұрын
Yes you are right and remember the grass you don’t use you can sell it the grass have extra money in your pocket or catch up with your bills and do the second cut on all the fields
@martinmorris8862Ай бұрын
I would have had to prank Harry! Typical young farmers prank. Move the car out of sight and fill the area with bales … you can guess the rest lol.. There is already a lot of advanced autonomous technology Rich. We already have much of the tech & Leley introduced an autonomous 0 graze machine. The battery powered Exos, unveiled in 2020, takes a new approach to zero grazing by cutting, carting and dispensing grass to housed cows entirely autonomously. Farmers weekly 21 June 2023. There is already driverless tractors and you can set up your own fully automated equipment like planting . the equipment lifts at the headland & the tractor will turn on its own drop back in and keep planting. Likewise in harvesting you can link the tractor trailer to the harvester and it will run alongside to fill keeping the exact speed and distance required. The tech is here and its as good as the programmer but there are a lot of pitfalls. Even the weather can affect and block signals to date no tech is close to being 100% safe or reliable. EM pulse , hacking, weather all a reality of what can go wrong.

@charliebalch3023Ай бұрын
Love your videos Rich like you said history of your farm in the 21st Century. But could you explain why you use silage against hay, corn silage or mixing them. Sorry ifs it’s a stupid question but surely silage grass or corn costs more than hay? So silage must deliver more milk per kg is that right.
@thefunkyfarmerАй бұрын
thats exactly it, it's a better way of preserving grass and feeds better
@charliebalch3023Ай бұрын
@@thefunkyfarmer so do you produce more milk in winter when feeding silage and maize?
@2626stephenАй бұрын
Pleanty of food for the winter. Should have burried Harry's car with bailes 😂😂
@liamhennessy31Ай бұрын
Keep on spreading fertiliser. Make a big reserve of silage that you’ll have in the bank. Better looking at it than looking for it
@stephenjones4339Ай бұрын
Should have stacked bales around Harry's car that would have foxed him lol

Don’t want to politicise this but I do wonder if the changes re Barns is just that. A lot are not suitable for conversion and whilst the intent may be there in theory, they still need to get Planning Permission and meet the Regs. Often that is where they struggle. They’re not all convertable

Don't apologise for having random thoughts about the future and other things, I'm just the same when I'm driving my tractor it helps with the boredom and monotony of the job at times. Craic On 👍

You should get a go pro or something similar so the video etc is better and then you can get a head mount or chest mount so you have 2 hands instead of one so it's easier to drive tractor and record
@williamokeeffe9874Ай бұрын

If you have more than you need you could sell some and buy yourself a bale squeezer or a bigger trailer for leading bales mate why don't you stack bales up around Harry's car and tell him you haven't seen his car and don't know where it is now that would be great i would have done it to him
