Such a great breakdown of the value of calmness in games. My go-to calm game is Stardew Valley. Such a chill environment to destress

Thank you! Yes, I love Stardew Valley, too! I did a video on it but it's not in essay format, might revisit it 🙂

I need to play A Short Hike again. I think I went into it with the wrong mindset of "just finish it". I want to revisit it and just take my time exploring all over. Great video!

Thank you yet again for suggesting a game I didn’t know I needed. I love how the games you feature are available on the Switch, which is my preferred way to play games these days. Can’t wait to give this a try.

I adored this game. It’s weird that I played so many hours of a 60 minute game. I still occasionally open it and do the various activities in it. Beautiful game.

@@ScreenTherapy You seem to have this ship going forwards in a great direction! Only idea that immediately comes to mind is something about intrinsic and extrinsic motivators in games and how that effects the kinds of experiences players have.
@ScreenTherapy

Very interesting! Always happy to get research suggestions! I'll look more into motivations. So far I've focused primarily on self-determination theory which is all intrinsic, but I havent thought of extrinsic yet, you're right. Thank you!

This was wonderful! I been wanting to talk about this game for the longest time, and I feel you hit the nail on the on why I haven't, I have been too busy focusing on making the "next best thing" and through that I have forgotten to enjoy the calm and freeing feeling this game gives me. Thank you for this! Sorry I'm soo late to catch up on your content 😁
