I found the channel with Terry Rowland by accident! find her here and see how she explains this scrappy quilt! I'll wait while you pop over!
• Color Wash Quilt Scrap...
Thank you so much Terry for your inspiring work! I am hooked! We all generate scraps making 'proper' quilts and I know I am not alone with my boxes full of all the colours of the rainbow.
This is a quilt that I will make over many weeks in the odd few hours between all the other things I like to make!
Thank you to everyone who bought a calendar in my shop - here -www.thelasthom...
I ordered some more and my lovely Printers have assured me they will be back in stock very soon!
jigsaws, books, candles, tea towels .... and very soon, calendars again.
Over on Patreon, I will be posting my October Diary on Wednesday.$5 for over an hour of behind the scenes at The Last Homely House. $10 for the weekly One More Videos on Fridays and the 'repostings' of the Quiltalongs every Tuesday. Polls too and the odd catch up photo post now and then. My Patrons support me in all the things I do so they benefit everyone on The lime Green Sofa and I am really grateful for every one of them.
join them here!
www.thelasthom...
Thank you so much for joining me here. This week there will be more videos on Wednesday/Thursday/Friday/Saturday and Sunday! So you should make sure your notification is turned on next to the Subscribe Button so you'll hear about them all!
See you soon!
Love
Kate

I am a self-taught quilter. I learned during the pandemic, alone, watching videos. Nobody in my family quilts. My Mom was English, and died many years ago. Just a note: Terry Rowland is from my neck of the woods -- Alberta, Canada. She's a member of the Canadian Quilters Association and a well-known teacher in these parts. I *thought* when you mentioned her name that I recognized it, and I was right! I've never met nor taken a class from her, but she is very talented and creative, and popular with guilds who've had her as a teacher and/or workshop leader. Thanks for mentioning a Canadian as your inspiration! 😊

I love Natural dying; I have been experimenting for a few years. I'm currently crocheting a Battenburg blanket with squares of naturally dyed wool. I'm also knitting a shawl with naturally dyed wool. I showed some of the fabulous colours I achieved on my KZbin Podcasts. Some are with plant material such as Acorns and Avocadoes, others are with powdered dyes such as Cochineal and Logwood. I love the idea of this stash busting quilt. I don't have many scraps so I better get onto the other pieces I've planned so I can get scraps from those. Thanks for the ideas, Michelle from Tasmania :)

@@thelasthomelyhouse Yes, I too enjoyed the music as it's so calming as we watch you, Kate, create and inspire us. Perhaps one day we could hear Anna play her violin? If not on camera but in the background. Thank you both Kate and Anna for everything you do!!

Hello, I am so happy to have found you! I think I’m calling myself an intermediate quilter at this point, all self-taught over the last seven or so years. I did know how to sew from childhood, but I didn’t really think about quilting until my Mom died and and I wanted to do something with her fabric stash. So I have made about 12 quilts since then and have really caught the fever. I love scrappy quilts and this one looks particularly useful for using some smaller pieces. Anyway, glad to be here, new subscriber. Peace from Ohio … (Meant to put this on the main comments page, but oh well …)

I love your postage stamp drapery, looks like stained glass!!! It would show up better and preserve the color of the quilt if you would put a liner behind it. The sun will bleach that fast as you know. Just found you today, I am subscribing. I am from Louisville, Kentucky USA.

Thank you Kate and Anna for brightening my day. It’s a bleak, rainy day here in Ct. USA. Plus unfortunately I’m a bit under the weather with a bout of bronchitis and a sinus infection. I love all the new ideas you bring to us. Being a new quilter, I just can’t seem to get a enough! ❤️

Stay warm and dry. If you get worse go to the doctor. In March my allergies were terrible. They morphed into a sinus infection, then bronchitis and eventually early pneumonia. Let's just say we don't want to know what full blown pneumonia is like. It took 3 courses of antibiotics to get rid of it. Recuperation was still going on in August. So take extra good care of yourself. 🫖

Know how you feel. Take care my darling and hope you get better. We live in New Zealand which has a humid climate, no good if you suffer from sinus and chest problems Xxxx

I call my tiny scraps itty bittys, I'm always putting something extra through the machine to create small blocks. Then when inspiration hits, I turn them into something bigger. I mostly make placemats and zipper pouches from my random sewing. I'm sure one day I'll attack the small blocks and make a quilt that has all my random chaos mixed together.

Smallest useful piece is bigger than 1/2 inch because there are two 1/4 inch seams. Anything bigger than 1/2 inch will show, even if its just a sliver. I really like this little square set. Thanks for showing it to us. )))

Hi Kate, thank you for your lovely video! How did you make your design boards to mount the patchwork on? What fabric did you use? I'd like to make something like this myself. Kind regards, Memie.

oooooh, this is going to be amazing - I can feel it (either that, or it's the cold weather, but I'm going with AMAZING)! I really love things that are NOT perfect - but they are organized...would that be organized chaos? I really like the way the centre block isn't necessarily centred or square, it makes this incredibly interesting! Looking forward to watching this grow!! xxx
