"A man's pipe is him", what a great quote. I've never been able to relate to the idea of someone calling pipe smoking a hobbie. Its far deeper than that for me. I've never had a house burned down, but I could imagine that's a memory that sticks like sap! 😢😢 What a great video! The best on the subject, if I may say so!😊😊😊😊

Grateful I found this channel. You remind me of one of my late Great uncles sir. I sure miss him. Started smoking a pipe two months ago myself. I have two pipes a corn cob and a Nording Fantasy Freehand (Briar). I use the corn cob a lot more. It was my first pipe and it I know it well.

36 pipes in my collection. Not really planning for more. Been smoking for almost 10 years since I quit cigarettes. No inhaling. Most pipes are either 9mm or balsa-filtered. I have 3 aromatic pipes, 2 Virginia baccy pipes, no cobs, 1 Meerschaum and the rest are briar. Many of my favorites have been gifted to me by my best friend who introduced me to the hobby. I have to two benchmark pipes (a Chacom Champs-Élysées and a Vauen Luxus) that I use to try new baccys. I like my Vauen pipes the most. I had 1 Peterson system pipe but didn't really enjoy it so I sold it. If I buy pipes, I buy estates. Just like a good used car, plenty of miles left for a good value. I do always enjoy listening to your sharing of your world while smoking a bowl. This morning, Nightcap (a favorite) in my meerschaum with a good cup of coffee. Thank you for your time and insights

I totally agree, some things just become a part of you, especially things that bring us comfort or solace from the rest of the world. I have 6 pipes, and honestly my cobs are some of my favorite. I have one briar, two pear wood and 3 cobs, I use one of my pear wood pipes only for english blends and the rest are for my beloved aromatics. One of my favorite blenders is Cornell & Diehl. One of my favorite things to drink with my pipe is either Sweet Iced Tea or Dr. Pepper.

Another great video Al! Im glad ya mentioned a man's boots too. I've been wearing my current pair 8 years now. They're all i wear. I have an identical pair in nice condition for going to town, but my daily pair are like my buddies when I leave the house 😆👍 As far as pipes, ive really become fond of the Savinelli 626 model. “You need something to cope with your sinful nature”. Another great quote. Romans 12:21 says, “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good”. It’s difficult to just stop a sinful thought or habit. As a believer, I’ve learned that you have to replace the sinful habit with good. But even good habits can become sinful if you allow it to take control. I have 16 pipes that I smoke (12 briar and 4 cob). I’ve bought and sold many others trying to find the pipes that fit me.

Hi Mr Wentzel. That was a good video sir. You were talking about firearms lol I have no idea how many I have . I only got 7 here at my house the bulk is at my sons in a safe. We fooled around and went in and bought 4 of ‘em their plumb full. But the 4th one is stocked plumb full of ammo. Heck we got enough to hold anything off for a pretty good while. I enjoy your videos you’re just interesting buddy. And a christian to boot. Me and a buddy of mine were trying out an AR10 it’s a .308 he’s building a few guns for law enforcement for here in the county. We were ringing steel at 5-600 yards yesterday. Am enjoying your video. My pipe collection is similar to yours. What I find is that pipe smoking actually develops a part of the brain and thinking abilities. So we think about things more deeply, like for example words. We think about how they are used, like cap and hat, as you mention. It actually makes us more intelligent. Someone on YT said that nicotine has health benefits, he wasn't specific, but I won't say he was wrong. Thanks again.

I got me five pipes right now. I've got a Peterson billiard, a Savinelli bent Dublin, a full bent pot Savinelli, and long stem (not a church warden) Rop with a small apple bowl and an AKB Calabash (Turkish Meerschaum.) I've got my eye on an expensive eagle claw Meerschaum. It's going to be my victory pipe (we won the election), my Jefferson Davis eagle claw. I don't rotate methodically, I just smoke the one I want at the time. I tend to smoke my bent Dublin a lot.

Interesting video Wentzel. You know..I have a church Warden pipe... it was not expensive...bought from Amazon...made in Ukraine and not made of briar(I think it may be my favorite or close to it)... I have a beautiful Lorenzetti briar I am quite partial to)...it smokes beautifully and cool smoke. Regarding tongue bite, I think the type of tobacco likely makes a difference..but I think how fast a person smokes makes a difference and I personally don't draw the smoke into my mouth in the same place all the time and I like to drink something whether it is coffee or a rum...I think this mitigates tongue bite..if I experience any tongue bite I just slow down, have a sip of my drink and it usually helps. Regarding pipes I have 10...not that many as far as many pipe smokers go...I have three Missouri Meerscham corncobs...one Lorenzetti, one Medico,one Brigham, three Angelos and the Church Warden..my least favorite is the Medico...it is briar but not really that attractive...it smokes fine but I am very partial to the Angelos.. beautiful pipes and smoke well...the corn cobs are inexpensive pipes and they always smoke well. Enjoy your Church Warden...you will figure it out...what I like is that the long stem keeps the smoke out of the bowl away from my face..and the smoke is always cool.
