Otto did a brave thing opening up to Marisol. Talking about your problems with your loved ones is the first step towards recovery. Tom Hanks captured his many stages of grief and depression perfectly.

There are a lot of people in my life that I miss the most my grandmother from my father's family she died before I was born and that created a very shattering moment for my father. I believe that's why he is mostly sad all the time he isn't depressed he's just holding on to so much pain. My grandfather when I was five and then my grandmother's 17 years later. My grandparents from my mother's side is what I'm referring to and I never moved on because they meant so dear to me and I wish that cancer and dementia never took them away from me. My grandmother's best friend that also includes my neighbors and that also includes my uncle and even though I never knew him my great-grandfather died. The losses that me and my family have endured never left my heart I did something very nice for my grandmother as a memorial for her passing I watched The Wizard of Oz with my aunt because that was my grandmother's favorite movie along with Fiddler on the Roof of course we didn't watch that but at least I knew it was one of her favorites as well. If I could explain that to a future girlfriend who has compassion and understands my loss I would hope to understand hers. If I ever could tell her these words I believe in God because my grandparents are the reason behind my faith and when I met you I was so nervous but after opening up my heart in revealing my true feelings to you and showing you that even though I may not be honest all the time I would like to be honest about the major stuff that could build up our relationship. If she could understand the feelings I have as I would hope to understand hers I would love it very much to say that you have become the greatest light in a really dark world you have helped me to restore my soul because we believe in each other and we have a good relationship with God. Having you in my life has brought us towards complete Absolution with God you became the light of my life and I believe in my heart that you were sent as an Angel by God. I love you with all my heart and soul.

Amazing movie for someone that grieves. I lost my daughter and so many people do not understand the pain and the grief and the anger. Best movie I’ve seen of deep sorrow and how bad you hurt that you want to take your life every day. This deserves an award.

I believe this is one of Tom Hanks’ best movies. It’s a wonderful one for someone who’s going through mental health struggles. This movie hit close to home for me because I once contemplated suicide because I was so angry at the world. I was mistreated for having a disability and I wanted to end my life. On top of that, I lost my Grandfather and my best friend. Not having him here hurts and I’m left to deal with the loose ends he left behind. I just hope I can come out on top one day and live a nice happy, healthy life.

I kinda see some similarities between Otto and Carl Fredricksen from Up. Both were devoted to their wives, both couple lost their child during pregnancy - otto's wife from an accident and carl's from miscarriage. From those sufferings they both devoted their lives into making things better for their wives until they died. Otto and Carl then became these grumpy old men after their wives passed away which were the only persons they thought could bring them happiness-not until the unexpected arrival of a Mexican immigrant family and a young wilderness explorer scout that managed to turn their life upside down and become the happy people they used to be.

It wasn't until far too late in my life that I realized the damage that rage can do, and the cost of allowing it to drive you is high. But it is rarely discussed about the costs involved in managing it. Learning to live in service to others -- and especially to *one* other -- demonstrates the value received in exchange for those costs. It's worth it, and this quiet recitation from Hanks is so understated, and just beautifully done. If you're not at least on the verge of tears watching this, I don't think anything can be done for you.

Oh man… back in September of 2022 I came to terms with my health.. I started contemplating ending my life as I didn’t want to suffer but… I thought about family and friends who all would have been beyond devastated if I ended it. I started doing research and found out how I can fix my problem and now I am much better and doing very well… at the end of the day… deciding to live was the smarted decision of my life.

Tom hanks plays this movie like "Look at me, I want you to look at my sad story, look at me and my pain with my intense unbroken eye contact" while the original actor seemed to have it yanked out of him forcefully, against his will. Much better, more emotional performance from the original actor. This version is Philadelphia.

"I have things to do." Folks who are considering suicide need to think about that. Do you have something to do? Do you have a cat to feed? A neighbor's lawn to mow? A mom to check in on every weekend? Then you have reasons to keep living. When you have things to do, keep doing them.
