I always feel so bad for the mother in this movie. The recap doesn't show that she DID try to talk about it with other people but they essentially ignored her. She carries so much guilt over something that she tried to stop and only failed because she wasn't taken seriously.

Ezra Miller was definitely the right choice to play Kevin. One thing that I don’t agree with in this summary is that Eva pretended nothing was wrong with her son. I didn’t get that from her when I watched it. She knew something was wrong and wanted to find him some help but her husband was the one who refused to believe anything was wrong with Kevin. I’m sure that was due to Kevin acting completely different around his dad.

Don't know why the recap was saying things like "she knew she deserved it/it was her fault" "she should have noticed/done something sooner." She noticed a long time ago something was wrong, but her husband didn't listen to her and doctors telling her there is nothing wrong with her son. Her husband just ignored her concerns and even told her she should 'get help'. Society does not look kindly on mothers who son was a school shooter. The film is a good example of why more and more women are choosing to be childfree. You can end up with a fucked up kid and the mother is who is going to get blamed and penalized heavier than the father. There are as list of penalties that come with motherhood and the cons out weigh the pros.

This is really very disturbing movie. That boy should be charged as an adult. No special treatment for age. He caused the suffering of so many families and he doesn’t deserve a break at all. She should’ve divorced her husband long time ago. She should’ve left that boy to his dad and walked away with her daughter at least for safety. Obviously the dad is blind of his don’s faults and never believed her. He had it coming. And she should’ve lived as far as she can from the father and son.

I like this film because it explores the many factors that led to the tragedy: 1. Kevin clearly being born a psychopath 2. His father’s disbelief and failure to discipline. 3. His mother’s lack of love/maternal instinct towards him. 4. His easy access to weapons. Blame is almost always shifted on the mother, but this shouldn’t always be so.

The mother could sense his bad energy, father refused to listen to her because Kevin put up a façade, so that the parents won't team up against him. It wasn't at all the poor mother's fault that Kevin was born with bad psyche.

This movie is an extreme example of a child carrying malicious hate towards a caregiver or others for no apparent reason. It does happen. Generally speaking though, there is a tangible reason why your child behaves the way they do or feels the way that they feel. Most adults in my life do not take responsibility for the things they have done to make me feel a certain way and ‘accepting it’ instead of taking time to understand what you have done and rectifying it is just one of those things that makes me hate them even more. It just shows how little a person cares about how they treat others.

She tried her best to love her child but even if he didn't felt as if his mother loved him, he knew that his father and little sister does and he end up taking their lives. After all his actions his mother ended up suffering, her life filled with regrets and self blame. I use to think something really terrible have to happen to someone for them to be a psychopath but some are just born psychopaths. And if the father saw what the mother was experiencing (even though he hid it very well from his father), they could have gotten him help to suppress his psychopathic tendencies. Can you imagine your child ending your life with the gift you gave him.

The whole situation was so complicated. Eva was a first time mother who didn't want to be a mother. She did tried but kevin as a baby can sense that she hated it and grew up to antagonized her. I couldn't blame eva, how do you tried to love your kid, when your kid throws it back at you all his life? Why does kevin hate his mom so much?

The movie is titled "We need to talk about Kevin". This is what the mother was saying to her husband. The husband/father was the one who was blind to his wife's problems with the boy. Not much of a partnership or friendship in that marriage after the son was born.

My opinion of this movie? Why the f**k did a juvenile who committed horrific crimes was not treated as an adult and given life imprisonment without the possibility of parole or death sentence?

It's pretty clear that depsite being a sadistic psychopath I think he did it just to get his mum's attention cause I'm pretty sure he knew that his mother never loved him and was jealous that his sister grew up with the motherly love he never got despite being loved by his father it was the father's obliviousness and eva's ignoring him that enabled him to believe he could get away with anything even when he was being arrested, but when we see him during the visisting hours he's learned the hard way that it isn't the case and the worse is yet to come when he turns 18 but at least they are now slowly building a mother/son relationship.

The mother did everything she could but she voiced her concerns and even her own husband didn’t believe her. It almost got to the point where it seem lil she would’ve been the one to get thrown into a mentally asylum.

Where kevin was a little boy and they were talking about the new baby breaks my heart and i believe was a pivotal point in the story. He says "just because youre used to something doesnt mean you like it" then follows up with "youre used to me". That moment he needed his mother to tell him she loves him. It couldve changed a lot. Yes kevin is responsible for his own choices but his mother felt contempt for him since he was a defenseless infant who cried a lot. Poor little guy probably had colic.
