On the day, I gave my testimony so that the church community could support me, and the minister asked me questions (confession of faith) and then charged the church with committing to help nurture me in my faith. What Joel is doing is empty and meaningless.

In fairness, Bezel didn’t give a definitive age. He also stated at one point, “ …putting aside who should be baptized …”, and went on to make a point about the importance of how it should be done. I believe in reformed theology. With that said, even some of the best current reformed teachers can’t agree on this subject.
@solideomusical9 ай бұрын
@@Window4503 Glad to hear that, but the infant baptism played no role in you becoming a believer. None. There are plenty of people who are baptized as infants and die in their unbelief. Yes, parents brought their kids to Jesus but Jesus didn't baptize a single one of them- nor did he command that they be baptized. Seems like that would have been a 'softball' for the case of infant baptism but Jesus didn't swing.

I don't disagree with the general point being made here, but it's a little much to criticize the word "water" in "water baptism" since the Scriptures also speak of baptism by fire and baptism in/with or by the Holy Spirit. It makes it sound like baptism is about forgiveness of sins. I'm not against baptism but you need to understand the concept of baptism and it should not be confused with the Lord's Supper. Baptism is an outward sign of an inward conversion where the Lord's Supper is done to remember what Jesus did on the cross, His death, burial and resurrection. 1Corinthians 11:23-26. For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, This is My body,which is for you, do this in remembrance of Me. In the same way He took the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me. For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until He comes. That goes along with Matthew 26:26-29. We celebrate the Lord's Supper in remembrance and inticipation of this Lord's return. Please don't relate baptism with the sacrament of the Lord's Supper. They are two different things.

Baptism is not a sacrament and I would like anyone to show me where in the Bible that would describe baptism as a sacrament. I would disagree with Bezel also on eschatology and end times prophecy. So we can disagree but considering your stance on truth then how can you equate circumcision under the old covenant with the new covenant (if my understanding of what you are saying is this)? Biblically speaking it's a slight of hand (which you review many others who do this) and jump to it as a replacementt. Well the question is this. The fact baptisms were being done prior to Christ's arrival and endorsed by John the Baptist EVEN though they were already circumcised makes no sense in your quotes from the bible. Also Jesus said to be born of water and the Spirit. When baptism is mentioned what else is normally mentioned...... REPENT. The ethiopian enuch is important here. It was HIS understanding of the scriptures which led to him asking about baptism. So I am always disappointed when you are so keen on pointing out errors and issues with pthers but yet skirt around issues like this. this is not a simple issues to 'agree to disagree' . If indeed you believe it's a sign for children does that mean you think that there is no adult baptism? What happens here? Love what you do!
@gregmatz36939 ай бұрын
Baptism is not a sacrament. It is an outward sign of repentance or putting our faith and trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. The Greek for repent is metanoeo which means a change of mind and is a synonymous with faith, trust or belief that Jesus Christ is the one and only true Messiah. It represents the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. My biggest problem with this so called Baptism is that are these people really saved? Joel Osteen doesn't preach about sin, heaven and hell so how can you be saved from something you don't even know about? Joel is nothing but a motivational speaker. He has publicly said that even Mormons go to heaven so I guess that means that anybody who is baptized will go to heaven which goes along with Lutheran, Methodist and Catholic doctrine. No where in scripture does it say that baptizing a child produces salvation.

Did the thief on the cross have a chance to be baptized? Jesus said that today you will be with me in paradise. You only quoted half of Mark 16:16. He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieve shall be condemned. It is about belief and being baptized in the Holy Spirit.
