@@BushyStallion It was a good playthrough! If you want the ultimate cheese you can use Liu kang's low fireball. It's down forward punch. Also there is a roundhouse exploit where if you walk towards the foe and throw a roundhouse right when the opponent is almost in range they will walk into it. The timing takes a bit to learn but you can use that to even beat Smoke and Jade. Kahn is definitely a Liu Kang low fireball spam feast though lol. Thanks again Dood!

"Kang" always hyperventilates before he fights. Kitana's fan tickles. Goro was forced to clean up before eviction. "Kahn" and Mileena were pissed at Kintaro's no show so they decided not to let anyone get past them.

I love seeing anyone play this game as it was the first MK I ever owned. I was 3 when MK4 dropped and I played it once in the arcade when I was 4 and died immediately because I was FOUR. I had anticipated playing the game again and when I finally got this at the pawn shop when I was in first grade I felt like I was playing the greatest game in the world. Also, I believe this was the first game I ever beat. Big accomplishment for a kid like me that would normally give up on a game.

I didn't have an SNES growing up but did have a gameboy and their were some good ports on it that allowed me to enjoy the home experience like MK2,Killer Instinct, Street Fighter, and Donkey Kong Land 2

Nice playthrough. I loved the Game Gear version. I bought that on release day at the mall! I thought it was the best thing I'd ever seen. I didn't get the SNES cart until the summer of 1995, so played the GG version as much as you played the Game Boy version.

Man i had this on my black Gameboy. I miss my Gameboy. I had all the little accessories like the attachable screen magnifier with lights on it so you could counteract the glare from other lights. I had tons of games too.

Same here I was blown away at the speed and response of MK2 that I literally pitched the first game into the trash as there was zero reason to play a clunky unresponsive and slow fighting game. MK1 was such a huge disappointment.

I had mk and mk2 when they were both new on gameboy and I remember being blown away by mk2. It’s hard to imagine how they pulled it off when you compare it to the first one.

I understood why the first one sucked it was because the extra frames used to animate the characters it just killed the performance. MK2's approach simplified the animations to maintain better gameplay speed and input response. I was royally surprised with MK2 I was expecting another sluggish slug fest of a pointless proxi to mortal kombat little did I know it would bring most of the fun and excitement of MK to the gameboy at the time.

GameGear batteries lasted 45 mins tops I found and because of that I never played mine as often as I wanted to. But yeah dude Gameboy version is amazing. You should try it on you cab lol might surprise you 👊🏼

This game should be an example of how every future Mortal Kombat game on Game Boy/Game Boy Color should be, instead they gave the port job to another team and those team screw up the gameplay big time. One thing I love about this game is that since there are only two stages, it's easier to find Smoke on one of those stage. This means you could even fight Smoke up to 3-4 times in Arcade Mode if you're lucky enough to get Dan Forden to appeared every time. Also I like how all of Liu Kang's moveset is in this game, only two things missing are the cartwheel fatality and the karaoke dance friendship: Standing Fireball = → → + Punch Air Fireball = → → + Punch when jumping Crouching Fireball = ↓ ⭨ → + Punch Flying Kick = → → + Kick Bicycle Kick = Charge Kick for 3 seconds, then release Dragon Fatality = ↓ → ← ← + Kick Stage Fatality = ← → → + Kick Babality = ↓ ↓ → ← + Kick

MK2 is my favorite game of all time, and the GB version of MK2 is my go to for a quick run through of MK2 when I feel the pull to play MK2 but doesn't have very much time. Plus, I it's one of the very few GB games (along with Tetris and Double Dragon) that stay in my home office desk drawer with my original phat GB as well as my launch GBA. It's perfect for a short lunch play when I have enough time. It's one of the best examples of a much, much better sequel of a game on the same system ever, IMO. It's great. The Game Gear version is cool too, but I find the GB version just simply more fun. Really, for me, the biggest fault with the GB port is the lack of Kung Lao, and therefore no 'Tony McGraw!' which is a travesty.

Cheese Shao Kahn by spamming roundhouse kicks; works best with the Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Reptile, Jax and Liu Kang. Shang Fun, Kitana and Milleena's are a bit trickier due to the animation and in turn the range on the roundhouse. Reptile's forceball is back, back, punch + kick; if you do that at full screen and quickly input his fatality you can hit them with the forceball and the fatality will play out when the opponent is mid air.

As far as Gameboy ports of any Mortal Kombat game MK2 was the best. (strictly speaking for the gameboy) I remember first time playing it and being shocked to see that the speed and responsiveness very much improved over the first Mortal Kombat. I put plenty of time on MK2 for GB when traveling or when another family member was using the Super Nintendo for a completely unrelated game.

Yeah. It's funny...you look at like 99% of the reviews of this game and everyone says it's terrible. This port was great. Probably the best portable version of Mortal Kombat until Deadly Alliance came out on the GBA. The first time I played it (just a few years ago), I thought it was going to suck. Ended up playing it for way longer than expected. It just plays right!

Would love to see you take a look at UFO 50, its a collection of 50 games from a fake company all of which are inspired by real NES and other classic games and has a secret metagame where you get clues to put into the game terminal, its a masterpiece and my personal pick for 2024 goty, but I think it only really is special if you grew up with the games it is based off of, so I think considering the era of games it's representing, I think you'll love it, my 2 cents.

GameBoy had lots of awesome fighting games ports, which is totally unexpected. King of Fighters, Fatal Fury, Samurai Showdown, are great (the only problem is the chibby characters, but the gameplay is on spot). Mk2 is amazing, the gameplay totally delivers the Mk2 experience. But for me, the most awesome port is Killer Instinct. It's a more complex game in terms of gameplay, and it's there, combos, special, fatalities... And the pre-rendered graphics shine! There's more stages than Mk2 too. The only fighting games that are really dissapointing are Mk1, Mk3 and Street Fighter 2. Bad gameplay, bad physics, etc.

You got pretty close to win the game, kind of a shame but at least you showed how good this portable port is, speaking of requests... you might "kill me?" but... I'll say MKT N64 Endurance Champion Ladder (you might want to use the Free Play cheat for this one, or kind of a montage), to enable endurance ladders, on the character select screen position yourself in Kano, hold down and press start, if you hear Khan say "You'll never win" you know you got the cheat code right (obviously that's before picking a ladder, otherwise it has no effect, and as I said before, you can ACTUALLY practice those Endurance Ladders as the matches on those are always fixed, so you can know what to expect), and for the treasures rewards... pick the one with the "Space Invaders?" minigame, is the 2nd from left to right on the lower file, and/or you could do a MK Armageddon playthrough with your favorite character of that game.
