A Mayor's Impassioned Plea for the LDS Temple in Fairview, Texas. 🤣🤣

Mormonish Podcast's Landon reads a letter written by the mayor of McKinney, Texas to the Fairview City Council. The proposed LDS McKinney temple will be built in Fairview, Texas if the Fairview City Council approves it at the next council meeting on July 17th, 2024.
The McKinney mayor seems very enthusiastic about a temple with his town's name being built next door to Fairview. He also expresses his enthusiasm for the LDS people in general!

The comparison to Creekwood United Methodist is a terrible comparison, and that mayor ought to be ashamed of himself. Sure, it might have required a variance, but not by nearly as much. I haven't found hard numbers, but based on a Street View image of the church, I'd estimate that the Methodist steeple is 60-90 feet. That's about half of the proposed 170 feet for the temple.

Creekwood Bell Tower was approved at 54 feet, besides its located on a 27 acres campus, over 600 feet away from the nearest residential property line. The proposed LDS temple site is on 8 acres and lees than 200 feet from the residential property line.

Thank you so much for the videos they've been very enlightening. In my opinion the LDS church is no longer a religion it is a business and does not belong in subdivisions. They own many different businesses, they financially support government entities and are no longer a religion. Members do your homework. When you think about having to pay tithing before you can go to the temple, and what they do with your money it's a total business corporation and needs to be built where they belong. The people crying gaslighting at these meetings act like it's a testimony meeting. Definitely not a proper way or a constructive way to get the point across. Just saying. We all have our own opinion about what we believe in a religious perspective but there's absolutely no reason or explanation good enough for that steeple to be that high.
