You always inspire me, Jeri. I love this quilt. So personal and creative. Love the idea of doing it all by hand. Not sure if my hands could cooperate anymore, but I love the look and feel of this quilt.

Thanks Barb. Doing it by hand made it portable and something I could do at night when I'm relaxing. 💛 Which is what I need to do right now! LOL We're doing an art show tomorrow and i'm pooped already!

Hi Jeri. I love the way you show us your 'workings-out' with this quilt, and the fact you're taking your time with it, not trying to rush the process. Such a lovely idea to use your mom's tee shirts. I hadn't thought of making blocks by weaving material in the way you have. Will definitely try that. I don't have tee shirts to use, but I do have a bundle of silk mens ties which are going to be slippery customers to sew with. Might try cutting shapes out of them and appliqueing them on to patchwork blocks, similar to how you've done with the tee shirt fabric. Best wishes x

Great inspiration here, Jeri. The idea of preparing these large squares, then designing the surface work is right up my alley. Thank you again for sharing all your wonderful creations. Hope your Mothers' Day is happy - mine will be missing my Mother too, plus my 2 sons live thousands of miles away. Nevertheless, we have so much fortune in our lives.

My mother was a watercolor artist among other things. She sewed, painted things, gardening, loved to cook and crochet hats for the homeless the last years of her life. whether you mentioned her before or not, I have been feasting on Jude Hill videos.....and see lots of inspiration there. but THIS ....I am watching on mother's day!....so thought provoking and exciting to see. I have projects whirling in my mind!! Yes ...would love to see putting the blocks together. Question: Are you doing 'slow stitching' when applying the block to the sheeting sometimes before the jeans/back? it appears that there are different processes before the back #2 the tee shirt gets applied at the quilting stage/then appliqué extras on? Sorry...hope that makes sense....meanwhile thank you thank you. love this video!

Each block is different. I'll start with an idea of what I want to do with the t-shirt fabric, then pick a block for a foundation. I've made a bunch of foundation blocks ahead of time. I will baste the white sheet on to the foundation block. Then I slow stitch or applique the t-shirt pieces on to the foundation block that has the white sheet backing. Sometimes I'll slow stitch some of the t-shirt sometimes I wait for the jeans backing and then do the (quilting) or slow stitching. My quilting as you might call it is willie nillie, even though it is considered quilting becasue it's holding the layers together. I guess what I'm trying to say is there are no set rules but the bottom line is to keep all the layers together and hold the t-shirt pieces in place. I'll make a block in a video. A few people have asked. Thank you for showing an interest in my project! 💛

@@JeriBellini I get it! no rules just play...LOL...thanks for the reply! I am still gathering ideas and noodling making a quilt from my son's plaid shirt...thinking strips so far, but haven't cut yet. the collar one of Mom's makes for all new ideas. blessings!!
