Do a second channel for the radio stuff

That's what I considered. BUT, if I did that, then this channel and its revenue would dry up while I'm trying to build and monetize the new channel. I'm pretty much DONE with modding this car unless I ever replace a worn out IS38 with a new IS20. For the most part, all I share about the car these days is milestones and problem reports. The channel is already full of my ham content; I might as well keep posting it. My subscribers will either adapt to the new content or evolve into a new list of subscribers, which historically amounts to about 5% of my total viewership. :-) Thanks for visiting!

Love the milestone updates! Have you had a need or desire to replace any suspension components? I have a 2017 GTI and I get the sense that the community thinks multiple suspension components need to be replaced around 100k. Curious what you think?

Not yet! The car feels a little soft. But I'm also toting around 200 lbs of extra cargo almost all of the time. Most of the weight is near the rear axle, which is going to make the car feel worn at times. It's still firmer than my wife's Jetta, though. Thanks for visiting.

Your videos has been reassuring. I wanted a GTI for a long time, but I was kind of scared about the horror stories about their reliability. I found a MK6 GTI, with very low millage (117,000 km), in very good condition, and not a spot of rust. I'm currently in the process of buying it. The only thing ''wrong'' with the car, is the color. (it's red, I would have preferred it black.) Oh, and the paint protecting film is falling apart on the rear bumper.

The Mk6 and Mk7s are more different than many think. Still, you may have a very good specimen. There are lots of Mk6's still on the road. I hope you have a winner! Thanks for visiting!

@@StealthGTI I got the car this week, and I've been driving it for the past few days. Best car I've ever had. Enough power to be fun, but not too much to be overwhelming. The handling is great, the suspension is stiff enough to be sporty, yet, soft enough to be comfortable. The seats are just great for my back. It's truly a great all around car. Time will tell if I have a good specimen, but I think I do. It only had 1 owner, who took great care of it with a full service history. I have a 5 year (pretty much bumper to bumper) warranty from the dealership. Thank you again.

@@StealthGTI 3 months update. I had a few things to have repaired in the first month. After buying the car, I noticed I sometimes had to press the start/stop button multiple times to start/stop the car. And I hit a HUGE pothole which broke a coil spring. Since this happened in the first 30 days of my ownership of the car, the dealership repaired those free of charge. Other than that, the car is a blast to drive.

What are the MPG are you usually getting?

With all the crazy antennas and idling for air conditioning (summer radio ops), I often see around 23-24. But check out this video in which I test MPG without so much stuff on the roof: kzbin.info/www/bejne/epfcdaqebLl5jpI. Thanks for visiting!

I just bought a Tornado Red 40th AE gti from the showroom of my local dealership similar to your experience. I’m hoping I’ll be able to keep my car forever and hit big milestones like this.

Wow that's petty good miles. I'm at 215k, but at 180 to 200 I had an oil leak, ac, carbon clean, and timing chain. I spent so much I feel like I have t keep it at least toll 230k
@StealthGTI
@StealthGTI Жыл бұрын
I'm on the fence between whether I should just replace the timing chain and tensioners preemptively at 200,000 miles or if I should wait until I hear noises. Did you get any signs of your chain needing attention? Thanks for visiting!

@@StealthGTI Actually no, when the car was in for the oil leak and AC they told me the " tensioner was at the limit. I guess just make sure you top off your oil was their recommendation. Right now the car just burns almost a quart of oil every 1000 miles . it ramped up really fast too, which is my mistake, my other car is at 280K and I never do anything to it. Looking back I wish I did 5K mile oil changes vs 7to 9K .

Hey, what’s the torque spec on that door helper bolt please?
@StealthGTI
@StealthGTI Жыл бұрын
I don't recall what I chose. But a quick look at a torque spec chart (IF the bolt is 10mm) suggests that 40 lb-ft is appropriate. I haven't double-checked, though, since we'll be having rain for the next few days. Thanks for visiting!
