Scotland is an area I have always wanted to visit & I finally got the opportunity to take a camera up there and shoot it.
I used my micro four thirds Olympus E-M1 Mark 2 for the photos in this video, the video itself was filmed on my Sony A7r.

Dear OM Systems, I would like to nominate Chris Baitson as a candidate for one of your new Om Syatem ambassadors. Seriously, OM Systems, if you're watching, at the very least, hook this guy up with anything he asks for. I've been thoroughly enjoying your content but that Milkey Way/light painted shot was next level!

I used to be one of those people that were "oh, never a MFT camera. The photos will look just like some 2005 mobile phone". Recently, I was on a quest to look for a new camera to try out and one that really caught my eye with its style was the Lumix GX80/85. I saw it was MFT and said nope! After a few months of going back and forth on it, I decided to cave in since there was a solid deal for the Kit that includes the camera and 2 lenses. I figured worst to worst I can always return it back. I added a Lumix 20mm 1.7 to the order since I read great things about it and I mostly shoot primes. My biggest regret about this camera and MFT system is that I didn't get involved with it sooner! I've had everything from Nikon to Pentax to Leica, etc and I have to say that this camera is right up there with my all time favorites I've ever owned. Which is crazy because the price of the cameras and lenses in the MFT are extremely affordable when compared to many other options out there. Since I've gotten the Lumix, my Leica has literally just sat in its bag and gets no use because I enjoy the Lumix that much. Now I know the camera isn't an Olympus/OM but I posted about it because that camera has garnered my interest in all other aspects of MFT and especially about OM cameras. If there's anyone else out there on the fence about MFT and unsure about giving it a go, I say to you don't hold back. The pictures do NOT look like old mobile phone photos, they're top notch! I really enjoyed your video and your photos, thanks for sharing it with us!

I think that a lot of nonsense has been propagated by armchair photographers about MFT and other cropped sensor cameras. A couple of weeks ago, I resurrected my twenty year old Nikon D70, put a 24~85 VR lens on it and I can't remember that last time that I enjoyed photography so much, perhaps with the exception of when I use my Leica M. Yes, above iso 400 the photos show noise, it is only a 6 MP CCD sensor, It has no live view, it is as basic as they come, but because I had to be careful and treat it like a film camera, I have actually produced quite a few really good photos with it. I really rate both my EM5 MKII and EM 1 MKII very highly, BTW.

@@lensman5762still my favourite camera is the lumix L1 (Leica digilux 3). Only 6 mp but the images are stunning (except when it's dark). I also shoot lumix gx9 and g9. All good tools.

Well, who says mft is a poor relation. They should watch this. I'm about to buy an om1. Ive flogged my 5dmk4 and lenses as im knocking on a bit and they were getting too heavy. A friend gave me an old em1 and it was a revelation. Light, tiny and even the cheap lenses were fine. So the cash from the Canon is funding the om1. Can't wait. Thanks for such an inspirational video. Superb comps and use of the light.

@@ChrisBaitsonI just saw your Skye video. Great location but too busy for me in summer. Up around the Torridon area is great too. I hoped to get up there as I’m back in the UK for a few weeks but I’m down with family in Coventry with my 7 year old daughter and there’s no way she’s gonna put up with a 13 hour drive. Outer Hebrides in October or May is definitely worth a trip.

I'm far from being a photographer Chris but always enjoy your videos. It sounds like Scotlands got you like its always got me. I could go on with endless lists of places to visit but I'm aware this is only a "comment". It doesn't sound like you will anyway, but if I could give you one piece of advice, it would be, don't go in the summer. The clouds of midges are ferocious.

I have heard about the midges up there. They’re bad enough where I live in the summer months. If I head back up it’ll be towards the back end of the year I think.
