What the previous nations (the Jews and Christians) did was become careless in correcting mistakes made in their scripture, and those mistakes were kept in their books. Even the prophet made mistakes as a human in which the companions corrected him and he affirmed in their correction. This is the beauty of our religion, we do casually let anything slide when it comes to preserving the words of Allah. And that is why Islam is superior to all religions.
