Another moment in time touring the countryside of rural Victoria when I stumble into this abandoned / vacated petrol station.

I am the owner of this site The site is being redeveloped and will reopen early next year. This is not an abandoned Petrol station as mentioned It has been closed only to undergo major redevelopment Country sites undertaking major redevelopment take some time to coordinate and we thank the locals for there patience We ask that everyone stay off the property for your own safety and resist forceful entry onto the site We have taken necessary measures to safe guard the public form entry onto the site so please don’t force entry. I always advocate no-one to force entry, do any damage / vandalise or take anything, report suspicious activity and go away with only images, leaving only your footprints. If it appears occupied or in the process of renovations then step back. Be reassured if it does open, the residents that approached me will be overjoyed and would even seek employment if there is any. Noting the residents that approached me or stopped by in their vehicles to make sure I was only there with a camera; which speaks highly for the locals that look out for each other - The next video will be the railway station and once again locals gave me some history and were just reassuring themselves that I wasn't a teenager or person about to do no good - I always condone locals to make themselves present if a stranger is about especially in towns, as rural crime is a major issue throughout Australia and I myself have come across on many occasions (in the act) of illegal dumping of waste on private and public land - With the tip being to record the licence number and if possible a photo via your phone discretely. !

I looked at the thumbnail, and said to myself, Hmm, I know that place. I've bought petrol there. My parents lived there for quite a few years, but now unfortunately they are both now buried at the Dunolly cemetery. Thank you for bringing back memories from my younger years.

Memories are important - As a kid I pumped fuel on week-ends when that was a thing and topped up oil too - It paid for nights out with friends and courting the ladies.

I visit the station there by drone and do a walkaround chatting with railway workers and another drone flyer - It will come out on Friday ... I try to produce a video every Friday, but will slip in one on a Monday when I can.

I live in this town..The garage /petrol station has only been closed for around 2yrs..The owners retired, and sold it , the new owners are supposed to be renovating it to re open..That's why there's a new petrol pump inside the building.

I spoke to a group locals walking by who said the same, but for some reason nothing has happen and were concerned that they might have given up on the project !

Same reason why there is a bus and other Stuff too. The owner ain't gonna be happy at all

Just as a heads up it does appear that the place will re-open which will give opportunities to locals for employment if any are available (some locals are keen the raise their hand for an opportunity that spoke to me). So speculation that the place will just bake in the sun, might be unfounded ... but there is a job ahead for the owner to get it up and running - All the best

It was a quick stop that caught my eye - unfortunately place needs a facelift ... maybe the men's shed group (if they have one) could do some maintenance on the street frontage via a Shire grant or request one ... The vintage public letterbox could do with a fresh coat of paint !

I don't think that bus is going anywhere or any of what's there - but having no roof and a huge hole in the wall on the main street isn't a great idea - That said, the locals were terrific and keep an eye on the place and just wished more progress could be made to secure the building !

I knocked on the door and yelled out - didn't break-in, didn't force entry - legislation is very clear what trespassing is and can be applied

Having received a message from the owner, the place is still scheduled to be re-open / renovated / repaired, even though some locals have noted it had been baking in the sun with roof and wall sheets missing for years ... Locals did speculate what might have happened, but they can be reassured the owner does have plans in place and even though it very much appears abandoned, the process has been slow for some !

Just as a heads up when exploring, be aware of any smells ... death and drugs do have a distinctive smell, so move with caution and if in doubt, notify the authorities - The bus did smell fine !

@@bobmarshall3700 l didn't know it was your property ... you might need some locks, doors, walls, roof so kids don't hurt themselves in it or used by drug users or taken over by squatters or the homeless - you might want to brush up on the legislation, as l have !
