Hi Kris. I'm no doctor, but I am a guy who over exerted my right shoulder and and both wrists lifting. I thought nothing of it, the old "It'll heal" attitude. Long story short, it didn't heal, tried resting it, elevation, massage but didn't get any better. I found the answer quite by accident, one of the basic fundamentals we all know but ignore, making a cup of tea, at the back of the cupboard I spotted a half tube of multi vitamins (the ones that make you "you but on a good day"). I used to have them every day, more for the boost than to be healthy. Anyway, I dissolved and drank one for old times sake. Low and behold by the end of the day I noticed I had a slightly better range of "no-pain" movement in my shoulder. Got up the next day to almost back to normal movement. Turns out my body was unable to repair itself, even with good rest, due to vitamin and mineral deficiencies.... now I'm not saying it's a miracle cure or that's definately your problem. But for the sake of a few quid, could be worth a try mate. Keep up the good work and video's Gary

Save your elbow, Kris! I know this video is years old, but I bought one of the small 5 ton electric over hydraulic log splitters. Skeptical that it would be capable enough at first, but I REALLY didn't want another gas engine to maintain. Zero regrets. Out of 7+ cords, it's failed to split maybe 5 pieces of wood. Best part is splitting wood easily while cozy in my shop, listening to a podcast or music. No engine roaring next to me or exhaust in my face. Very pleased, highly recommended.

Hey Kris, I recommend using a car tire for splitting the wood. Saves you some energy because the wood doesn't fly off.
@guyina4x4996 жыл бұрын
nice looking shirt I used to chop the wood I could and saved up the big stuff and rented a splitter for $40 for 24 hours, usually rented 2x a year and had an all nighter splitting wood. I miss the wood heat, you just don't get the same heat from gas furnace
@nemecec012 жыл бұрын
Dear Kris, Maybe collect the split parts in your wheelbarrow instead of throwing them on the ground….. isn’t that more effective? Then you don’t have to pick them up again. Just a suggestion from an amateur 🙂 Thanks from me from Denmark for educational and entertaining videos.

Thanks enjoyed your video, hope your elbow gets better. I have sciatica back pain, got it the first time a 1 year ago from noware was in bad pain for a month had to stop two times on my drive to work just to stand up and walk about for 5 mins then i could drive again. Not to bad now but comes back every now and then and sometimes just moving a funny way and a get a shooting pain. I know what you mean by just getting on with it. Looking forward to see what your up to in the winter 👍

kris, if your shoulder is still hurting & resting it doesn't do any good, try taking calcium supplements/vitamins. This helped me a great deal when i pulled my ligaments & muscles putting a heavy battery into my jeep, i had to lift it up & into the jeep. I still occasionally pull muscles & i use calcium vitamins & it helps a lot & it eventually goes away. thank you for the video, glad you are all set for winter!

Hi Kris, If you change from using a big heavy splitter maul to using a nice Kelly axe and cracking your firewood logs on the edge you may find it much easier on your elbows. Strike it on a grain line and it will just pop nice and easy. Worked wonders for my bad elbows mate.

I have an old miter saw or chop box that I use for small diameter logs. It is mounted on a table that I move around as needed. It makes quick work of the stuff that doesn't need splitting. Just need to use extra care to prevent kickback or jams. So I added a guard to the front so no wood can come towards the user. You feed the logs in from the left and it falls out the right side into the wheel barrow ready to be stacked. I can get through 2-3 cords of wood in a weekend by myself with my method. Splitting wood is all about efficiently getting the material to the stack. I try not to let the wood pile up around the chopping block otherwise you'll be tripping over it all. Some times I will set up multiple blocks to just go at it. But, I find chopping and stacking the wood to be peaceful and relaxing. Just get in the zone and go.

No worries Kris. What I said was you have to rest your elbow.......you're young, it's only a few weeks. In the 80s I had it in my left wrist through work. Had a pot on for 2 months, and 2 months off work. Not been a problem since.....however I've now a problem in my right wrist.......had it for 2 years.....a support is helping but?? Also look back through my videos at my proper log splitter I made. A project for you, can make one with an angle grinder......you've free electric......get it done 😊👍

Tennis elbow is SO painful! One thing that (oddly) really helped me was sleeping with it immobilized in a sling. May sound awkward but it was the only thing that really helped. We move so much in our sleep, and the pressure on the sore elbow I think makes it much worse. I put on the brace before bed, propped a pillow under my elbow, and after a few nights of resting it like this my elbow felt so much better.

I’ve been waiting for you to do this video,, I can say you have “ owned” it 👍. I carry out my firewood duties in a similar way. Have an old trike utility vehicle for carting the wood. No wood is a waste of time harvesting unless it’s the completely rotten.. I throw the knotty stuff to one side when splitting, then run through it with the chainsaw, does the job. I will make a tractor powered hydraulic log splitter when I get round to it. As usual Great vid 👍👍👍

Is a wood burning stove you have Kris? I was going to say, save you much time and labour if you burn the dried wood unsplit on open fire, lasts longer too with just as much heat. Good to find your channel on my recommend list.

About having a smaller chainsaw: for me, its easier on my body to have a longer bar (20"or 25 inch) to cut wood on the ground, I am tall. Also, I split wood where it falls, then load it be stacked. I noticed you cut it, loaded it in a wheelbarrow, dropped it, split it, and will be brought to be stacked. Is this because you insist on using a large pc of wood to split it on? This seems to take much longer. Thanks for the videos.

A medium to large container ship will burn circa 360m3/day whilst full away on passage. So about 15m3/hour of heavy fuel oil which is basically the residual waste left over from the refinery process. However per item carried that is significantly less fuel/emissions than other forms of transport. An individual bottle of wine from say South Africa or Australia will emit more emissions in the truck from the distribution centre to the supermarket than it did on the whole journey from the other side of the World. Ps. Is there any chance you could perhaps draw up a little map of your property to show in a video so we can see the layout of everything in plan view?
