Glad to see you're back, Anderson! I always just assumed "well, he probably got burnt out, it happens" so it was a very welcome surprise to see this in my subscription box. :)

I actually just stumbled upon your channel a few weeks ago so it appears my timing is fortunate. I've been really enjoying some of your old content and am looking forward to the new stuff. Welcome back, and congrats on your recovery, I know how tough that can be

Thank you, good timing indeed! Happy to hear the back catalogue holds up, it bothers me a little that so much of it feels unfinished but eh... that's a bit the nature of serialized KZbin content, I suppose.

It is the nature of life to change suddenly. Some of what we were doing is worth picking back up, other parts may not be, and others yet we may find were actually hindering us. Sometimes a little break gives a new perspective, and it sounds like you have one. That's always worth it.

Waiting on Knave as well! :)

Lot of great things to look forward to! I am particularly interested in the world building part. I totally agree that building organically as you adventure is the way to go, but in my solo games I tend to accumulate threads and themes, so after a while things tend to get messy. I guess I let myself be carried away by those random rolls... 😄 Probably alternating between adventuring and proper world building (as you suggest, if I understand correctly) could help getting a more coherent world. I am sure that there will be things to learn for me from your future games!

It might help curtail the desire to overdo it on the fleshing out bit, e.g. if I run into a temple and I have to come up with a name and function of a deity, there's a pretty strong urge to conceptualize and clarify an entire pantheon lest I "write myself in a corner" making decisions about one god on the fly that I then need to track for every future decision as I compile my religious component for my setting piece by piece. I'd prefer it to make a decision during play, store it away for relatively immediate action in the build video afterwards and flesh out the pantheon in its entirety there, thus getting the element of the worldbuilding done in one relatively coherent whole instead of losing track of it or contradicting myself half a year later. At least that's the theory! We'll see how it goes in practice!

OWCH. Glad to hear things are mending well. One Ring solo supplement. Hmmm. I may have to look into that. I've been reading the Silmarilian and my high fantasy itch is starting up again.

The One Ring 2E really is the most accurate recreation of the Tolkien "feel" I've seen in an RPG and the solo material (both Strider mode and the additions in the upcoming Moria book) is excellent.

It is great that you are well and back at it. Finding a miniature in your bread was funny and a great way to keep them safe.

Hi! Great to see you back! Question: You mentioned The One Ring Moria Solo, Have Matt and Shawn done new content in this book or are you referring to Strider Mode?
@killtenratsrpg6 ай бұрын
There's new content in the Moria supplement that got a backer preview recently. It's very zoomed in on "how to run a band of dwarves through the attempted Balin reconquest of Moria" but it's definitely easily adapted into other scenarios, too. Considering they also did the Dragonbane solo stuff, it seems the two of them are Free League's go-to solo people now!

Welcome back. I don't know if I missed it, but I don't think I heard anything about if you have plans to continue your Ironsworn series? I really enjoyed it and would love to see it continued.
@killtenratsrpg6 ай бұрын
I basically only addressed the things I'm already sure about in the video. Ironsworn, the Scarlet Heroes "City of Colrain" campaign, those are a bit up in the air. It boils down to me being interested in continuing the stories but having to face the reality of having only so much time to record and edit, while Ironsworn is getting continuously refined through its successors Starforged and Sundered Isles. What I could imagine is that there'll be an Ironsworn 2nd edition before long based on the rules updates that have happened to the system since its release. That'd maybe be a good point to revisit Kynan, Saskia and the rest of'em.

I wouldn't expect Knave anytime soon, Jacob Hurst is way too interested in selling Knave 2E at cons to bother getting us our books. Very disappointed in that KS.
@killtenratsrpg6 ай бұрын
Yeeeeah, when I saw that update "if you see any books pop up on the socials" KS update I figured they're pretty much asking for backlash for absolutely no good reason. I'm not particularly bothered personally, it gets here when it gets here and likely will end up on a book pile before I get around to it, but it's not a great look.

Resisting the urge to play it right now even if it's challenging, much prefer to delve in with the physical copy in hand though!
