Popping on decel, hesitation and easy stalling just off idle just getting moving is probably too lean on the slow jet/pilot jet. Slide needle diameter controls mixture in lower part throttle once you get moving (transition off of the pilot circuit), needle clip position controls primarily mixture at higher part throttle but also affects balance of mixture between lower and higher part throttle (so drastic changes in needle position may require a change in needle size to recalibrate the lower throttle mixture...my CR specials have 7 clip positions), needle taper change if available affects primarily mixture balance between lower and higher part throttle without changing the low throttle mixture, and the main jet somewhat affects high part throttle but progressively mostly full throttle. Riding on cold versus warm days will help you feel what parts need changing, as areas of the throttle range too rich will improve when it gets colder out and areas that are too lean will improve when it gets warmer out. In a perfect world, you create a consistent calibration that gets lean or rich equally with weather changes and then just have a set of winter jets/needles/settings and summer jets/needles/settings if you ride all seasons. It can be tricky to read plugs, because if your calibration spans both rich and lean, the different operating realms can clean or soot up the plugs and your readings will only reflect what was most recently run, so a rich top end followed by a bunch of lean cruise on your way home to check plugs in the garage will probably show lean. Best way to read the main jet is to find a deserted stretch to rip a good full throttle pull and then kill the engine right away and read the plugs right on the spot. Then just repeat for the tip, mid, and base of the slide needle. It's probably easier with a direct controlled slide versus CV carbs, but that's the general idea.

My dr header glowed a couple times like a turbo on antilag till I figured that one out and the bike flys with almost zero adjustments needed year to year since I got it dialed in, 5-85mph steady cool combustion temps :) I did have to "resize" the pilot with a suitable size drill bit to get rid of the lean pops, ive got my 2015 right at the edge of a stage 2 even with a stock pipe opened up and itll lift the front tire even with oversized tires

I have the same exhaust and the same problem, lots of popping on decel. I'm gonna do the 3x3 in about a week so I guess we'll see if that effects it at all
@MrBrady6914 жыл бұрын
Yes it's exactly that, carb needs to be re jetted to suit any additional airflow (3x3 or exhaust) drz is jetted lean from factory to meet emission standards, now that the engine is getting more air it will need more fuel otherwise it won't be as powerful, don't think of the mods as a power upgrade in them selves, they are a way to get more fuel and air into the motor, without the extra fuel of rejetting you are only getting half the benefit from the exhaust and 3x3. The popping on decel is a good indicator that it's not getting enough fuel. If it's too lean you may damage your engine
@Sumo_boi4 жыл бұрын

One variable at a time? Breathing, drinking, and spitting all go together. Do the 3x3 and reset if necessary. Now that you’ve seen what a bitch it is to get to jets have fun. Making the hole 3x3 let’s the engine breath better, has nothing to do with where it comes from...the snorkel restricts what she wants. A carb has a float bowl, which holds a bit of gas to feed the suction at the jets, yes, they don’t want you to catch on fire. The rattling is a float that meters the gas coming into carb. As you know well know. Ran great cold and pops when warm b/c it is rich. So, don’t touch jets! Add air by doing 3x3 and re-test. The added breathing may match the current;y too rich mixture and be in the ball park. You WILL want to repeat on your bike, but do all at once.
@audiogarden215 жыл бұрын
Please do 'not' cut a hole in the airbox. It will not help the bike breathe better in the slightest. The engine will still draw in the same amount of air that it is able to now. The only way to get more air into the engine is forced induction. The air in the airbox is still at atmospheric pressure whether you cut a hole in it, remove it entirely, or not. The only thing cutting a hole into the airbox will accomplish is disrupting the flow of air and creating more turbulence which will reduce efficiency. If you want to remove restriction in the airbox then change the air filter to something less restrictive.
@reptilesgamers004 жыл бұрын
