My fiancee and I met in an introductory chemistry class--I'm headed to med school, and she's studying to be a nurse. We're getting married in May, and I think I want to sing this at our reception!

Kudos! to the writer, producer, editor, shooter, and talent for an impressively produced piece of work about what otherwise would be the incredibly dry subject of neuroscience. I'm immersed in lots of research and production for a PBSish documentary titled "THE SCIENCE & MYSTERY OF LOVE" featuring Dr. Fisher and others... and have to say this was an oasis moment!

When you looked in my directionI thought my heart might explode(My heart was racing and I thought it might explode)Cause my sympathetic nervous system caused norepinephrineto stimulate my sinoatrial node When you looked in my direction When you first looked into my eyes(When you looked into my eyes)My stress response diverted blood flow from my stomach and intestinesAnd it felt like butterflies I knew that I wanted to marry ya as my ventral tegmental areasent signals to my nucleus accumbensAnd oh oh oh my lord!The anticipation of rewardThat doh doh dopamine starts pumpin' Oxytocin is the potion of devotionGimme that dose of dopamine ... hold the serotoninWe're still goin`, growin` stronger all the timeI love you ... and I'm never gonna change my mind When you first smiled at meI did foolish things(really really really really stupid things)Because my judgment was impaired by a reduction of activityin my amygdala and the frontal cortex of my brain When you first smiled at me I began to fall(one smile and I began to fall)And so did my serotonin levels, producing anxietyI couldn't eat or sleep at all. Then a year or two went by with serotonin on the rise’til I was feeling comfortable and calmNow each and every time we touchI get that oxytocin rushOur bond has never been so strong [backups: "it's a thrill"] Oxytocin is the potion of devotion dial back the dopamine - bring back serotoninWe're still goin`, growin` stronger all the timeI love you ... and I'm never gonna change my mind Lady, we've been together for a while now - and things have started to mellow out. But don't worry - we can still bring back that spark of dopamine when we experience new things ... together Oxytocin is the potion of devotionA little bit of dopamine - a lot of serotoninWe're still goin - growin stronger all the timeI love you ... and I'm never gonna change my mind p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 12.0px Helvetica; color: #454545} p.p2 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 12.0px Helvetica; color: #454545; min-height: 14.0px}

I'm reading Behave by Robert Sapolsky, for personal interest. Here are my notes of only the Appendix 1: ### "Brain Cell" What people typically call a "brain cell", is the neuron. There are a hundred billion or so neurons in our brains, communicating with eachother, and forming complex circuits. ### Glial Cells Glial cells provide structural support and insulation for neurons, storing energy for them, helping to mop up neuronal damage. They greatly influence how neurons speak to one another, and also form glial network ### Manic Tree Neurons are highly assymetrical in comparison to red blood cells. A single neuron drawn by Ramon y Cajal (on page 696) depicts what looks like branches of a manic tree, explaining that the jargon that this is a highly "arborized" neuron. ### Subparts of the Neuron 1. Dendrites: these are the ears, the inputs. 2. Cell body 3. Axon: In contrast to the dendrites which are the inputs, the outputs begin as a single long cable, which are called the axon. These axons ramify into axonal endings. Axon terminals are the mouths. 4. Nerve ending #### Electrical charges Inside a neuron are various positively and negative charged ions. When a neuron receives an exciting signal from the previous neuron at the end -END OF NOTES- I'm up to page 100, but revising over the appendix which is at page 694. And I was considering to turn all this neuroscience 101 stuff into a song to help me remember, because I'm a musician/singer-songwriter. For inspiration, I searched youtube if it had anything on neuroscience. And I came across this video.

This channel is so good, and deserves so many more subscribers. Of all the educational KZbin channels, these are among the most interesting, and they are THE best produced. Get it together, KZbin algorithm! My theory is Skunk Bear needs cross-promotion with other science channels. Skunk Bear would mesh well with: The Good Stuff It's Okay to be Smart Physics Girl
