I'd be more excited about MPC software version 3 with native vst 3 support and improved handling of midi, like the ability to drag and drop midi files directly onto a desired track of a desired sequence, currently if one drags midi into the software it places the midi into a completely new sequence, forcing the user to copy and paste the midi from the new sequence to the desired track/sequence.

Interesting! I usually wait a couple years or more after release dates to buy products. That goes for anything electronic. It allows for firmware or updates to smooth out the kinks. It’s like I let everyone else be the post release beta-testers lol

@@EncourageSquirt nice! I’ve been interested in the PS5 for a while now, but I’m still using my PS3, Xbox one, and modded Wii for my video game needs. Figured I’d upgrade to a 4K tv before I take that plunge. Regardless I know where you’re coming from. I tend to avoid launch days on a lot of products, and then after time goes by (several years) I become more interested.

A mini Keys with speaker would be kinda sick. I might go for that over my dream Live 3/Mini. Two more things I need: XLR+1/4 combo port like the X, and a preamp so you can plug a guitar/bass straight in.

The image in the e-mail shows more than on the website. The buttons seems to labeled "Menu", Prefs", "Main", "Track", "Edit" and something else. On normal MPC there is sample edit, program edit and what not but no just edit button. The rumor about the mini device also mentioned a new software, so it would make sense to have different buttons than on normal MPC, I guess this is the mini thing.

I wouldn't at all be surprised by a new MPC considering Akai has released 13 MPC branded machines since 2012. So a new one shouldn't really be surprising to anyone. What is surprising, to me last least, is that the MPC software is only on version 2 after 11 years.

I would rather a properly refreshed MPCX. More inputs, or to be able to use all 6 at once rather than only 4 at a time. Something with better convertors is a must but if its a one, live mini, keys, minikeys, XXXL minikeys-live(Lmao), then I'm most likely not interested. Having those 8 outs is pretty mandatory and using the External Card is alright for that but the magic back in the day was the 8 outs on a Mpc60/60II/3000. Haven't been interested in Akai as much lately besides 3000/60. Pretty happy with the sound of my other samplers I currently have. Also that MpcXSE wasn't much of anything but slapped some ram and paint on a b*tch so that sh*t is whatevs. Also... I know the meaning of Akai but these new Red Mpcs look F'n Awful. Honestly. Who ever is in charge of this deserves a kick to the teeth. >P

I really like the Fasttracker II amiga for windows, linx and mac. Listing to Mods from the 90's. Fast tacker is midi so you can connect through daw to ft2 with loopbe to control tracks in Tracker. Mix this with PlogueChipsounds which can import .iff and .mod. and others.Chipsounds and interpolated 'correctly' (i.e. as the Amiga did, rather than modern/cleaner resampling techniques)That's called "nearest neighbor interpolation" or "zero-order hold".

Honestly, not a big deal. The market is flooded with drum machines, Groove Boxes, MPC's .... I don't even bother to get excited anymore. I just bought a Novation Circuit Tracks for $150 almost new in the box, before that, an MPC One Plus for $375. Prices are cheap, hardware is plentiful. I passed on a Polyend Play+ for $625 a month ago. I think the people that might get excited at new hardware are hardware collectors. People that collect hardware just for the sake of saying they have something.

Honestly, I think Akai should focus a little more on improving the software. They've already released 13 MPC branded machines since 2012, yet the software is still at version 2 and is underpowered compared to other leading software DAWs. I understand that hardware is still Akai's "bread and butter", but to be stuck on version 2 after 11 years is a little ridiculous, especially considering there are functions that it still lacks that users have been requesting for several years, yet Akai seems to think that we *need* more hardware.

The gap between the buttons and screen is bigger on the Live 2… theres about 1/2” where “MPC etc” logo is written under screen above the buttons. And the buttons are a bit bigger in the y direction on the 2, if you get what I mean… the buttons in that vid are slimmer in the vertical direction… interesting!

I'm over the excitement of new hardware releases. We barely scratch the surface of gear in the couple of years we get before something new is released. I'd rather manufacturers just regularly updated products long term and get the absolute best from them without bringing out slightly better gear that we really don't need. Who ever completely masters a piece of gear before buying something new just because it's new?

all this functionality is great, but sound is what moves people from their laptop to hardware samplers. Old mpc's have great sound they are like the moogs of the samplers. BRING BACK ANALOG FILTERS FOR THE SAMPLERS

Expecting a built-in speaker AND battery on an MPC mini is just not realistic. Like the MPC Live 2, it would become then too bulky and heavy for real just-throw-into-my-backpack mobile use. They have to shave off weight somewhere for this device to not defeat its purpose so the speakers will have to go.

Speakers are unlikely, but a battery is absolutely possible. The Novation Circuits are a fraction of the size and weight of the MPC and they have batteries that last up to 4 hours

How so? I don't think it would attract very many new users to the MPC platform, as I suspect that most of the people that will buy it will be people that already own one or more MPCs. That said, I do think that the addition of stem creation technology will be a big draw, especially in standalone. THAT is going to be game changing for the MPC brand.

Akai hardware has been a joke to me for some time. The Retro editions, limited.. why? (I live in Europe, trust me, you can’t buy a new Retro One or Live II). The new Red MPC One with minor upgrades and still not battery powered. MPC X Special, yeah we sure wanted that.. not. The software updates have been awesome though. Hardware, not so much.
