Thanks Dana for being so honest and my motivation to keep working out. I am 55 now and back in the day I too was an athlete (tomboy) who didn't like my body and very insecure on my looks. Was teased about my small breast. Always wore loose clothing and still do. But since my son introduced me to an amazing trainer that he goes to things are changing. I told my trainer I wanted to look like you, so now your his tool. I have lost 37lbs (189-152) and noticing my body has muscles. I have fallen in love with working out now and slowly becoming more secure about myself. Still hard to wear tight clothing and feel good about it. Been training for 2 years and wanted to learn more. Just last year I found your channel and can relate to your story. Love that you can have fun and laugh and be strong as well. I would get teased as well for giggling too much but that's just me. Wish I could afford your retreat but that's so cool your doing this for people. Thanks so much❤ Dana. My motivation.

I am stoked to have “found” you in this world. As a woman who grew up very similar- small home town, did all the sports, felt incredibly insecure, the gym saved my life. It stopped being about “being skinny” and into how strong can I actually become? How much muscle can I have? Your KZbin videos have given me so much inspiration. I finally joined the DLB app and it’s exactly what I’ve been looking for😎 thanks DLB❤ please host another gym meet up weekend! I can’t go because my dog just had leg surgery and I need to be home with her!
@danstafford65367 ай бұрын
I've watched many of your videos and you are the number one bodybuilding trainer on KZbin... you have a vast knowledge of bodybuilding... via the Weider system... you give excellent exercise description anybody can follow... plus the do's and don'ts... and various tips. Bodybuilding is not an exact science it has the most misinformation of any sports.

I cant tell you how much you inspire me, i started your challenge in January but got struck down with anaemia as im menopausal with 1 kidney, i try and exercise most days but some days are harder than others. I started a personal trainer course while still working a full time job last year. Trying to do it all has taken its toll and ive found that i lost myself. My friends are rooting for me but i too have a leap of faith to take by changing careers while working to get myself stronger again and looking like you. I currently still have the meno belly which crept back while i was ill. Im going to sit and write my goals now. Thank you for reading my essay! Keep up the good work ❤️❤️

You're awesome! The bit about negative comments on social media and how you can look at it as a positive thing reminds me of the Rick Pena documentary, how his videos had the power to evoke reactions in people, he came to the same conclusion RE the hater comments. You're obviously doing something right if someone goes out of their way to post any reaction at all.

Although, I didn’t start my journey watching you, I’m glad that I found you. I enjoy hearing how you became YOU. I started hitting the gym because I had bad back pain which has been resolved btw. At first I thought the gym was going to be a chore but over the last year I’ve really fallen in love with it. I am impressed with how my body has changed and how clear my brain has become. I’m not a beast like you but I’ve grown muscle and that’s INSANE. Haha It’s kind of funny because when I started my son told me I didn’t have any muscles because I was a girl. Well…. I recently flexed for his dad and my son got the biggest eyes and said, “MOM!! You are getting daddy muscles!!!” 🤣 My daughter is 9 and keeps telling me that when she’s a teenager she wants to work out with me so we can both have big muscles. Our whole family has been watching you for a few months now and we just adore you. Keep up the great work! 💕

I just wanna say that you’re an inspiration to me. I remember when I was first starting the gym and I was looking at videos and one of these girls that was in the gym. She talked about who she looked up to and she mentioned your name and as soon as I heard that I started researching you getting to like get more information about you And I remember watching a video and how you were explaining about your insecurities about your body and how you didn’t fit in and then when you started going to the gym and started to build muscle you found that passion but there’s one thing that stood out in that video And you quoted that you’re not I do nothing bitch, and if I’m correct, you were talking about your mom at this point, and let me just say from watching that video from learning different exercises for my body, especially shoulders, like you have taught me so much! Like you give me hope that one day I’m gonna be on stage and compete! You have really impacted my life so many levels, so I thank you, also, thank you for this video that you put up to just learning about you and you’re always been my motivation even on days when I don’t feel like going to the gym❤ and honestly, it would be such an honor to meet you

You have paved the way for the rest of us to be able to feel confident and to motivate us to put in the work to feel good about ourselves. I’ve had your app for a few years and recently really started getting into it and realized I need to prioritize myself and the only time I felt good was doing your workouts. I’ve had coworkers even say I’m starting to look manly but I’m not 😂 barely scratching the surface but plan on getting serious and lift for myself and nobody else. Thanks for being a mentor! Dana your words are very true and you proved it . I actually met you a few times a fitness mania thru Bob ! I had the same kind of struggles thru life but mine was more depression and I too was 3 sport sometimes 4 sport athlete. I had a bad shoulder injury that kept me from going to the next level . Anyway now I’m 58 and looking at a shoulder replacement soon so my lifting is almost done . So at this point I’m just looking for a good diet at my age where I can at least be healthy and be the best I can be at this point . So I’m gonna look through your videos but urs are probably catered more to body building . But I just wanted to say hi and we live a couple blocks from your old gym ! Best wishes to you and Rob keep doing what you do and inspire others !

As a DLB fan since your Olympia win, your videos have gotten better and better.. Love watching you on podcasts when you share more of your thoughts like you did in this video. I'm 50 and can remember when my 3rd grade teacher Mr. Bagley told me one time when I was getting picked on about my weight as a chubby kid, he said 'talk about me good or talk about my bad, but at least your talking about me...'. So a very similar message Rob gave you, but that clicked hard for me back then. You look amazing, your approach to instructing is amazing.. one of these years I hope to be in those hours-long lines at an expo to meet you just to say 'Thanks for all you do for us!'.

One thing I learned when people are angry, mad or jealous is I would think not really owned them but I look at it is when they think that of you they gave up all of their power and control to you. There is a Viktor Frankel saying. “Between the stimulus and response is this space. And in that space is this power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.” I had a guy road rage on me and when he passed me he called me horrible things. The old me would have got my heart rate up, shake and cuss. Now I dont even feel reactive. I just think how sad he must really be hurting to act like that.. and I just carry on my day without a thought of him. Hes the one suffering, not me in the end. Some people get this and it’s a powerful thing. No one is taking my power! Boom! 💥

All high schools have weight gym... but nobody's qualified to teach them how to use the weights... many people end up in the fitness gym, I have yet to see anybody that knows what they're doing... they all seems to be doing weight lifting or ego lifting... Cross Fitness doesn't help that's where form doesn't matter.
