Hi Izzy. What a great classic flannel shirt! Plus you look fantastic (and warm) in it. I love flannel -- soft, warm, and light... the best triad. After years of not being able to wear woven shirts due to neck problems, last year I got serious and designed my own shirt. The secret ingredient was to make the yoke out of cotton jersey knit and cut the collar on the bias so it can stretch more. So I once again have a beloved flannel shirt. I gasped when I heard you say you had never before had a flannel shirt. I imagine it will perfect for lots of your weather. Wishing you years of happy soft, warm, and light flannel-wearing, Antonia

Izzy, what a beautiful color for you! I knew right away it was a Vernon, isn’t that just the best shirt pattern! I think your plaid matching looks great. Cutting on the bias for the placket, yoke and cuff adds so much extra detail. I have lots of flannel shirts, mostly for camping but they are a staple for sure.

I love it! Such beautiful colors in the plaid and they are so perfect on you. I really like how all the pieces cut on the bias look. Plaid flannel is a staple here in the Pacific Northwest (Washington State). It is so comfy. I have a few shirts and I can do fun things to dress them up or down. @socarole is one of my favorite KZbin channels, so will go there next to check out her make. I Am Canadian. Lol. Yes, I lived in plaid flannel shirts and jeans during my teens and twenties. I still have a couple of them in my closet that I still enjoy wearing occasionally, but since I'm 63 now, I have gone on to more comfortable clothing, like sweat shirts, long sleeve tee shirts, and as a nod to my plaid flannel days, I now wear double brushed poly plaid stretchy button up shirts, and absolutely love them. They look like plaid flannel, but are so much more comfortable.

I’d love to meet up with her. 😊 I’ve been wearing my dad’s flannel shirts, and I love them. I was going to cut them up for a memory quilt & bear for family members, but now? Not so much. His regular shirts will have to do for those. 😂

I think she’s in the mid-West somewhere (Ohio maybe??) but I could be wrong. When my father in law passed away 8 years ago now, my SIL gave me all his plaid shirts and I made memory quilts for his daughters and pillow covers for his grand-kids (our kids). I love that the kids have a pillow that reminds them of their papa (I even kept the pocket of each shirt and used it on the pillow covers).

How beautiful is your new shirt. Love the Blue plaid, Robert Kaufman makes great fabric. It looks so wonderful on you and the fit is perfection. I’m sure more flannel is in your future. This will keep you warm and cozy through Spring. I made a flannel shirt a few years ago, The Sewing Workshop Florence Shirt in a blue plaid. I found some smaller check in the same colors and color blocked it to some degree. I did the back in the smaller check and the front pocket and then put a faux placket down the back with buttons. I love it. Great with jeans and leggings. I need to wear it more. Another fabulous make! Happy Creating!

That shirt in those colors is absolutely perfect on you!!! Don't worry about the sleeves maybe not being perfectly matched - the pattern draws your eye away from that anyway. Yes, I have a flannel shirt - more than one, in fact - I've made a couple in floral and paisley flannel but my favorite is a "store bought" Woolrich flannel shirt in green, blue, black and white plaid with a fine red line - so I can wear it with a lot of different color turtlenecks - it's the kind of thing where I smile every year when it's cold enough to wear it again because it's a favorite thing in my closet - even if I didn't make it!

Nice shirt, Izzy! I was drawn to it by the beautiful plaid fabric, but then checked out the pattern on the Cashmerette website. Because I'm built just like you, it would be really nice to have a button-down shirt made for our figure type. This is a pattern I will be buying soon! I really like the back yoke and button placket being cut on the bias to provide a lot of interest. It provides a really nice look to an otherwise regular flannel shirt pattern. Not only was this a great colab make, it was a great pattern review! I normally stick to Big 4 patterns, but will be looking at more Cashmerette patterns in the future. Any other pattern makers you could recommend to me for women with our shapes? 🥰 Now, on to the other colab video (Katinka's).

I like Love Notions (for tops mostly because I have a hard time fitting their bottoms to my body) and Itch-to-Stitch (also for tops) are firm favourites of mine. I also made a few Pattern Emporium patterns successfully and the one Style Arc pants pattern I’ve made ended up fitting me really well (Parker Ponte Pants). I really should try more companies, but it’s hard to try new companies after finding a few that really fit well with minimal adjustments.

I have family near Ottawa and my son used to play Junior AAA hockey in Napean so i know the area. The Fabricville near me closed down (I bought a whole roll of muslin fabric in their closing sale) but I do order online from them once in a while. I do have Club Tissu near me which is not bad, but a lot of their fabric is quilting cotton now. I love that I can order online from Core Fabrics and pick it up at their warehouse (which is conveniently located near my daughter’s work).
