@erickmoralvocal8586 During the Black Friday event, I picked up every single Valve game ever made for like $15. Half-Life plus all its expansions plus Half-Life 2 with both of its episodes are something I would definitely grab. Portal and Portal 2 as well. You can also pick up Jet Set Radio for like 8 bucks. It depends on what you're into, but the odds are good if there's a game you used to really enjoy from the Xbox 360 generation till today that it's available on steam, and normally it's on sale. You basically NEVER buy anything at full price on Steam. The store is set up to encourage sales, so you should always wishlist it and pick it up when they notify you it's discounted. I made the mistake of buying Titanfall 2 at the cost of $50, only for it to go on sale the following week for like $4. Google "is there any deal website." Always check them for the best deal, too. You'd be surprised how many brand new releases get discounted as well. I got Wukong on the day it came out for like 15% off thanks to that website. Happy PC gaming bud.

My opinion might be all over the place but hear me out. Valve tried making a “console” in 2015 and it crashed and burned getting discontinued in just 3 years. However, I think the market was way different back then and as long as it’s semi upgradable it might have a very small chance of competing with the big 3. However, it will not be able to keep up with Xbox/PlayStation/Nintendo if Valve just relies on their store front and doesn’t have any exclusive games. My reason for this is that without exclusives a lot of consumers are gonna ask themselves “why do I need it when my Xbox/PlayStation/Nintendo can download most of the same games”.
@yousafkhan692114 күн бұрын
You need a Steam box because the Steam storefront is just better than any of the console storefronts. I’d pick a Steam Box up in a second. However, Sony would shut that shit down immediately in terms of their games being playable. They can easily ban the games running of specific hardware configurations, and they would do it without a second thought.
@joem5815814 күн бұрын
Assuming their contract with Valve would even allow that (which I would expect it doesn't), that would be such a bad PR nightmare that it wouldn't be worth it, at least for existing Steam titles. However, if Valve gained enough traction in the living room, I could definitely see Sony re-thinking their PC push.

They would be silly to do that.

@@joem58158 Sony is nothing if not a bully. I love their games, but they are fucking ruthless. I’d say even more than Nintendo. They’ll do what they can to make sure Valve gets no benefit from their games.

If it's priced like the Steam Machines, equally as a high end PC and with current prices, Valve can just forget about getting into console spaces.

Sony would crp its pants. One thing valve has over sony, you can play a steam game in almost every county. Hence selling a box legit, or online buy a gamer can have and play. Say unlike the 200+ countries that cant play a sony game as they cant make a psn account.

Valve already tried to have a console in a 3Do like approach. Multiple manufacturers produce a product that played the same titles that ran Steam. With the somewhat success of the Steamdeck, I can see them expand their offerings to expand their market.

The way to enter the market for Valve, is to use the steam deck 2's SoC, remove Battery and Screen will lower the price. So if Steam Deck 2 launches at $499, the console can be $399, and they can have a drop in slot for a GPU, with a pro model for $599-$699 with an AMD GPU, as you can use Steam Deck OS with a different SoC or dedicated GPU just fine.
