The fact that it's a free modded game that doesn't need the original game in order to play it, makes it piracy. It can get taken down for that reason and the people that made it could get into some serious trouble.

I feel like with the amount of talent and dedication the development team has, it would be better to focus on making shorter, more compellling conversions, than these big ones. Guys I have a project going on for years now, for a Gta San Andreas sequel. It includes all 3d universe cities like (gta underground), I even added cutscenes and ai deepfake áudios of the real voice actors, and even got some of the movies they played in to get some lines. The cutscenes are not just the simple ones, we are currently working on “real cutscenes” rockstar style. the story is about Cj empire and how he will need to maintain that empire while Salvatore is trying to kill him and making allies to take cj empire down after he robbed his casino. It would mean a lot for u guys to like this comment, I will really motivate me to release this. And if anyone is interested in helping, get in contact

The writing really needs work. Ya'll gotta have some more fun with it, it just feels like a mafia soap opera which completely shuts down the feel of a GTA game. Have some more fun with the genre, do what Rockstar does and mix in a lot of genre-mixing and dry comedy, Sam and Dan have a dry-wit that I think really accents the GTA series with a certain level of humor that both feels immersive and reminds us it's not taking itself too seriously. Also maybe have an American or North American proof-reader read your dialog and writing, because a mobster using the term "Dude" in the middle of a shootout feels wrong on so many levels I can't help but laugh at the attempt to sound more American. West-coast skateboarding youth use the term dude, 50 year old east-coaster Italian American wouldn't...

The problem with total conversion mod cutscenes is that you can only make some in game cutscenes using in game animation. Its very hard to create custom cinematic cutscene, in Gta sa alone its very hard and buggy to create even a simple animation for custom scene, let alone a psp mod

this makes me excited, just like with some of the full games made based on goldeneye 64 you can play thanks to romhacking, now gta is getting the same treatment, im absolutely ready for ai voices to improve, and for entirely new storys to come out of this, i want an entire new story for san andreas, voiced and all, i wanna see what carl got into, but i wanna see new people too, man its a good time to be a pc gamer, even if everything thats monetized sucks now, i can always rely on the community to keep me entertained

The best part is this works in original hardware and the ppsspp without anything extra. The voices were great too, fantastic work of non profit AI. I prefer uncanny voices than having me read hours of content.

Great video as always, cool to see SC reviewed. This mod frustrates me, because it has so much damn potential. As you said, the fact that this runs on PSP at all is incredible, it has so many cool features that have never been done at this level before. And yet, in my opinion it is still unfinished. It's very close to being a fantastic mod, but it seems barcode put 90% into their mods, and then leave it once it's at the finish line. I don't get it (it was the same with Forelli Redemption). In my playthrough, I easily found several mission-breaking bugs, design flaws, and other things that are simply unacceptable in a mod made in 2023. They seem to have no intention of fixing these things, so all this mod will become is a "shame that this wasn't in development for a bit longer" experience

Dude I totally agree with your sentiment on this mod. There was so much potential there, but you can feel it in the mission design throughout the story and side content, that they didn't take things as far as they could've. Had that minor gripe throughout the story but could never put it into words myself. Respect bro!

The 2.0 version, which is an overhaul of the game is in the works (sometimes we post stuff in the news channel on discord). Also all the ports will be based upon that, so this is not the end of SC at all.

What's that GTA 3 Theme remix used on the early chapter of the video? The music in the best way to play and conclusion section are pretty damn good too. On the subject of AI voiceover, honestly with how compressed it is to be in a PSP game, it sounds "natural" to how Voice Acting was back in the day for those types of games in the era, not being disrespectful but rather saying it gives off those vibes, pretty fun stuff. Great video! Saw a few vids and I'm hooked, subbed!

I have mixed feelings about this this. The amount of effort that it takes to make a cohesive game really saddens me, because most of the shark card babies will nitpick this to pieces. Then there's the "but the published games are canon" soy boys, who make it their life's mission to criticize anything GTA related. Being around the gta community long enough makes you witness excellent mods taken down due to harassment by parent company and nasty fans.

On my behalf I can say that the quality of the AI voice acting is partially the way it is because we were under severe time constraints. Elevenlabs only became a thing late in development, we started recording voice lines in mid-January and had to finish this by the end of February iirc due to the fact Elevenlabs was changing its policy and we would not be able to use it for free anymore. The option to keep it enabled and disabled was made exactly for this reason - we knew the quality was not the greatest and not everyone (like you) would be a fan of it. So you can play without it and go classic TC style like Frosted Winter, the choice is yours. The time constaints were also the reason why some of the quality of the writing is so questionable, we simply had no time to polish all the dialogue when we had to rush the voice acting and among other things, a much more corrected version of the text file got lost amidst the chaos. I think it shows that some mission voice lines seem more natural sounding than others. And as a matter of fact, Elevenlabs has been pretty strange sometimes with the generations it offered. You pointed out Salvatore and 8-Ball, this is exactly the problem we had. But then again we also chalked it off to the voice actors passing away, so it's like the AI didn't want us to revive them 😜We had a chance to use the current version and the quality of the lines is a lot more natural and smooth. Sal finally sounds like himself. Coming from me personally, this is probably the part of the mod and its dev cycle that haunts me the most and I can understand why people criticize the voiceover and the quality of some dialogue. That said, I hope that the upcoming 2.0 release of the mod and its near-development twin, Forelli Redemption Reissued, will fare much better as we tried our best to assure the quality will be much better this time. I appreciate you stopping by and checking out the review! Totally understandable when it comes to using this AI stuff, it's really hit or miss. I much prefer VO, and I guarantee there are plenty of people out there, myself included, who would love to put in some voice work for free, even if it isn't 1 to 1 with the original character. But that ends up being hard because of quality differences and such. I'm really excited to check out the upcoming releases over there from Barcode, especially the re-release of Forelli Redemption! Can't wait!

@@BladeOpotato Luckily now Elevenlabs is much better plus we're using other AIs to ensure far better delivery of lines while also keeping the characters' tones of voices proper like they should be. King Courtney or El Burro will now have the same voices they had on the phones but clear and we try to make sure their delivery is fine, so expect some problems while trying to understand what Courtney is trying to convey 😂think of it like this, it's comparable to Little Jacob in IV kinda.

After English Ben trashed this game I decides to give it a shot. Sure its game design is not very good, but what can you expect from a GTA story expasion done by just a few fans? I mean, the little differences from the base LCS and side content itself is very neat. I mean, the mod has a lot to improve on, specially on the story mode, that sometimes is very confussing and doesn't really go anywhere. For the gameplay part there's it's irritable gang takeovers that mimic VCS and are just as annoying as it was in that game. The worst thing is, they are mandatory for you to move forward with the story.

The mod authors made a total conversion similar to this with GTA 3 called Forelli Redemption(covering here at a later point), and Shine o' Vice is in development for Vice City by another mod team. Just gotta keep an eye out for them, but total conversions like this are out there! Just big projects like this sometimes take awhile

I always thought that GTA 3 engines weren't mod friendly and this is why there weren't that many mods around in the 2000s outside of cars, UI and textures. It's surprising that now so many years later, when these games are dead for anyone but 30 year old boomers like us, that these huge mods come out.
