Hey Daniel, I'm a snowboarder at heart. I love speed, carving, and the free and floaty feeling I get on a snowboard; and in the summer, I miss that feeling. Because of that I've been looking at e-skates for a while to try and see if it's something that would be a good replacement for snowboarding in the summer months, and your pitch about maneuverability and carvability on this board has brought me the closest to ever actually committing to buying an e-skate. I just have a few questions. Is this board good for someone with larger feet? Would it make a good board for a beginner to e-skates? How customizable and user friendly is the software if I wanted to lower power to learn how to ride it safely? Is it capable of braking while descending steeper grades or accelerating up them? As I live in a hillier area. How easy is it to travel with? Would you be able to check it at an airport? And lastly, is there some service in place to help owners with motor or battery replacements if they do fail? Are owners able to get batteries or motors to replace them on their own if they are mechanically or electronically inclined? I'm very interested in the hobby but just haven't been able to convince myself to pick one up, thanks.
@DanielKwan12 сағат бұрын
Good questions, I'll answer one by one. - This deck was designed with larger feet in mind with a concave that also works for smaller feet or feet pointed forward. - Low ride height is very helpful for beginners and this board is much lower than most other eboards. - The remote has a mode for low speed rides and you can also customize the performance settings. - Brake performance is excellent but you need to be cautious when braking downhill on any eboard (any vehicle actually). Uphill performance is excellent as well, our 220 lb rider regularly rides up 40% inclines. - This board can't go on passenger planes because the battery is over 160Wh. - Spare parts will be available. For repairs, you'll be able to send the board to an authorized repair technician, or do it yourself if willing to void warranty (depending on the type of repair).

Daniel, as a diy enthusistnand battery builder, it is very nice to see a board like this hit the market. If I did not already have a diy to fit in this category, I would definitely consider this the best option. I took have wondered how light I could possibly make a board while still having it handle like a nice long board. The backfire mini was great at portability, but sacrificed too much in deck size, stiffness, hub motors etc. I'm glad to see you built this from the ground up. There is a lot of impressive tech in this and I can understand how truly difficult it is to get all that working together. Great job! I am running a heavily modified og zealot currently. You can check it out as the super Zealot in esk8news forum if you are interested . Again great work with this one. Really knocked it out of the park.

I like what you're doing and there are several aspects I'm really intrigued by. The integrated handle is simply genius. I'm curious about the belt drive system. The price doesn't seem ridiculous for a premium board. For me, however, what I want is a ultra-long-range board (like 100km if possible) with pneumatic tires and a higher load capacity. Also, wider trucks and higher clearance. Kinda the opposite of the Aero Pro. 8^) Basically, I'm looking for a touring/skatepacking board. I know that's not what you're building but if you want a next project, that would be my vote. But, the Aero Pro looks really sweet. Best of luck!

I totally agree with the sentiment, I am lugging around a 17kg 700Wh EUC anywhere and everywhere, always. I'd like it to weight less, like, dreaming of 12kg. Yet, my 17kg EUC has entirely replaced walking and cycling. I run up and down several flights of stairs with relative ease and push it with the trolley handle otherwise. That is, eventually, the 17kg have not been a deal breaker for me and I highly appreciate the safety aspect of having a wheel diameter of 400mm instead of 80-120mm, and I can ride most unpaved roads too. BTW, 222 Wh / 7 kg < 700 Wh / 17 kg < 444 Wh / 8.3 kg.

Damn, you're spot on about ebikes vs all terrain boards. I got a Meepo hurricane and I love it's comfort and power, but it's so incredibly heavy to carry and you can't really lock it up at a bike rack. I was also surprised to learn that Meepo doesn't make a carrying handle for the hurricane so I installed a crappy one myself that slightly helped with portability, but not much. I ended up using my ebike for most commuting purposes and also for off road riding. I only ended up using my board specifically when I wanted to carve.

For some of us, being able to use AT tires isn't stylish or a "go fast" issue. It's more of a matter of safety. If there's a wheel I can put on these that can afford me the same amount of safety as an AT wheel, I'd be on this.

I’ve already made the move to EUC because I personally don’t have many stairs to deal with. But this is 100% the right direction for e-skate!!! Just like u said there’s no need for a big heavy skateboard when other PEVs already do it better. I also have a propel endeavor, don’t get me wrong I love that board. At the time I got it it was my favorite board and I think it’s still super fun to carve on. But with it already being really heavy, I never really reach for it over my Begode t4 euc. It’s just more comfy and the trolley handle eliminates the hassle of it being super heavy… most of the time anyway. Would I want to use either of those products if I very often had to go upstairs indoors or lift it over subway gates? Hell no! I’d easily choose the exway x1. I’d didn’t like the exway wave as someone 6’1 with size 12 feet, it’s just too unstable for me, and even tho it’s lighter since it’s a short board you HAVE to carry it instead of pulling it like a suitcase. Lightweight longboards are the PERFECT solution!

@DanielKwan11 сағат бұрын
We do ship to New Zealand. Aero Pro X works great for pushing as well. The extra 1.3 kg doesn't affect the pushing experience much but requires a little more effort to carry. 8.3 kg is still quite lightweight by today's esk8 standards but 7.0 kg is a better ownership experience if you can get by with 222Wh, in my opinion. Note that combining pushing with your ride increases range as well.

How would you compare the Parsec to the newest Ares X3 Gear? I know the X3 is heavier but it is a street board that is pretty low to the ground and is much more agile than the all terrain boards out there. I also get roughly 30 miles of real world range with it riding around 25-30mph. I can see the lightweight of the Parsec being a huge advantage here if you need to pick up and hold the board with one hand often.
@DanielKwan11 сағат бұрын

@@DanielKwan I do like that it is getting closer to pure longboarding and I appreciate that. The price is a bit hard to swallow. I understand that with the materials and components you are using, you pretty much have to sell the board at its current price to make any profit at all, but it's going to be tough. The only real use case would be for someone that likes to carry their longboard with 1 hand. In most cases, people can just pull it with one hand without lifting it. I think the board looks so amazing though!

I'm confused how the idler pulley works. Is just gently providing more contact between the belt and the driven gear without a bunch of extra tension? But also you mentioned tension settings, so does it also function as a tension pulley?
@DanielKwanКүн бұрын
There are three different ways to adjust/set tension on the EPIC Drive. First is the normal way using the slotted motor mount holes like other belt drive. Second way is using one of two non-slotted holes to set the position of the motor. Third way is to use a different size belt and place the idler in a different position. I'll make a separate video about this. Most people can just use the default config and not deal with tensioning.
